ACCFootball Coaches Teleconference LIVE NOW

Shafer: "We came up short at the end of the day against a great team (LSU) and arguably the best player in college football."

Shafer said the staff hasn't had a lot of interaction with the medical observer at each game. It's a new ACC policy. Shafer likes it.

Shafer said Eric Dungey is getting better daily. No status update.

Shafer talking about how he feels bad for recruits and high school coaches in today's Twitter age. Truth is some love it, others don't.

Shafer said hybrid Erv Philips is getting better every day. "I'm excited that he sees the light at the end of the tunnel."

Shafer says that Syracuse is recruiting UCLA TE transfer Chris Clark. Is hesitant to say more as he's unsure what NCAA rules allow.

Shafer says success of backup QBs this year in comparison to last is a testament to OC Tim Lester's system.

That's it for Shafer. We'll hear from him next on his Tuesday SU teleconference.

That's a very good question. I've been scouring NCAA rule books for the admittedly short period of about 10 minutes, and I can't find anything about this. The only rules listed are for the student-athlete. I can't find anything pertaining to how much a coach is allowed to publicly say about a potential transfer student.

.

Grob and McF***it

Just horrible hires. Complete failures.

I know coach Marrone said once you can say you are recruiting a kid but nothing else about it.

Yes, I recall him saying that he was trying to get Paulus to come to Syracuse but that's the extent of it.

Per NCAA rules, team coaches and administrators are prohibited from making any public comment on any unsigned recruit (including a potential transfer) until the prospect has signed. from a story on how michigan reported themselves last year.

also saw a story from 2012 saying the ncaa wanted to change that rule

another story "about Izzo is precluded by NCAA rule from discussing specific targets"

Marrone said that he can say he is or isn't recruiting a certain player if he is asked specifically about that player ...Anything beyond that would probably be under a "public comment."
