Yes, Bomani was on the local radio station here in Raleigh/Durham for awhile until he started to blow up nationally. Recently I heard him talking smack about college teams that play zone. He dissed Syracuse (this was after their loss to Pitt in the ACC tournament). He said that no team that plays zone can succeed, that they are playing zone because they can't play man. I find it hilarious that we worked our way to the Final 4 again with our signature zone with some sideline pressing. It made me smile about the comments that Bomani made. I like him in doses with other sports, but he probably needs to lay off college ball with his commentary.
On another note about the local sports radio here in Durham/Raleigh/Chapel Hill, they are complete homers. They only talk about Duke, North Carolina and NC State. The fact that these teams belong to the ACC and play other teams escapes their mention. They are especially reluctant to mention any teams north of the Mason Dixon line. This run by Syracuse is killing them. They have to talk about the Cuse, especially because they are facing North Carolina. They mention how cranky Boeheim is, but they at least think he's funny. The joke is that they know nothing about Syracuse. One of the announcers this morning was talking about how Syracuse hasn't done anything lately worth mentioning. "When was the last time they were relevant?", he asked. Two Final 4s in the last 4 years and 3 Final 8s in the past 5 years is the answer.
