After two scrimmages, 1 thing we know, 3 TBD

If "outside their range" means their toes within an inch or two of the three point line, you are correct. And here is the other thing, with these teams, that may be true that the three point line is outside their natural range, but the really good shooters we will be facing have that range and then some. That is my whole point. If our offense can click through multiple rotations, then so should the defense. But it isn't. I fully anticipate it will get better. But for now it needs work. It is good and right to feel optimistic about the team this year. But it is also okay to notice the short comings.

What about ALL THE REST OF IT?
Give it a rest dude.
How many uncontested layups did we give up?
How many easy put-backs?
How many times did they outrun us down the floor?
How many minutes did our starters play?
How many different lineups did we play?
How much defensive chemistry do you have when someone is taken out every 4 minutes?
I gave you the numbers, FFS.

I think we will find out a little more about the defense tomorrow. Le Moyne can shoot. They hit 18 3s and they had 30 assists on 39fg in their first exhibition game.
Nice! 39 made field goals is no joke.

Dude, we had high division one players with multiple years experience playing against D2 schools. The D2 schools still got plenty of clean looks. They had inbound passes with two seconds on the clock where they should have scored by making cuts to the basket but for whatever reason didn't. Yes they didn't score a lot, but that is because the ball simply didn't fall for them, not because they didn't have good looks. Yes we over powered them, yes we should have. And what part of I understand they weren't playing set rotations don't you understand? Do you not think that part of the analytics Red was trying to get is how they play in defense as well as offense? I am not going to go back and watch the game and tell you exactly how many times and all you ask. If you choose to believe they are a stalwart defensive team, feel free. It just means your definition of defense is different than mine. The numbers don't always tell you everything. But keep on believing the numbers against these two teams to tell you how great they are. This team is going to be good, but they are not there yet.

You realize 50% on 3 pointers is equivalent to 75% on 2 pointers.
40% on 3s is considered outstanding. Thats equivalent to 60% from 2s.
yes, and your point is...mine is only that against a lot better teams there are times we are going to struggle to get good looks. In those games you need to rest on your defense to get the stops and limit their scoring. I would be ecstatic if we averaged 40% from 3 a game. You are going to win most games if you do that.

They had some good looks but this is a stretch of the truth if you re watch the game. Most of the better looks came once the game was out of hand. They got a handful before that point.
You were watching a different game than I was. I saw plenty of good looks because our guys were sagging so far off the 3 pt line- yes it was because they couldn't shoot a lick, especially with their 3 best scorers out of the game-it almost looked at times they were playing zone. And even sagging off they still got beat off the dribble a few different times. But that is basketball, even the worst teams are going to have good plays once in a while.

People are going to be surprised watching LeMoyne tonight. This isn't the D2 LeMoyne we used to play moved up to D1. They are recruiting at a much higher level now and are not a bad mid major team.

The game might not necessarily end up close, but a legit D1 team is coming to the dome tonight.

Won't surprise me if people are getting really uncomfortable if at the 8' mark of the first half it's like 28-24.

To add some perspective, only two teams shot 40% from 3 last season, and only 12 teams shot 38% from 3.

36% as a team will get you right around the top 50 nationally.

Duke led the ACC with 37.67%

I didn't know the numbers, but that sounds about right. 35-36% has traditionally been the range for a good shooting team, but there are a lot of kids nowadays that can really stretch the 3 pt line out. Few teams are going to consist of all shooters though so I suspect 35% will always be the base of what you want as a team.
