Akir Souare in the portal

I thought Souare was a good athlete who was extremely raw and not ready to play at the ACC level.

He had no idea how to set a pick but tried anyway almost every Syracuse possession when he was in.

Was usually called for a foul.

Was too skinny to play down low and had no footwork or moves down low.

Good athlete who occasionally blocked a shot but consistently positioned himself poorly, when playing defense, when rebounding, when trying to get the ball down low, etc.

Seems like a nice young man but the Australian center from Siena is a big upgrade. At least he has some idea how to play basketball.

He's part of this seemingly endless line of backup Syracuse centers over the past 10-20 years (Devin Brennan-McBride, Sean Williams, DeShonte Riley, Chinonso Obokoh, Peter Carey, etc.) that looks like they never played basketball for one second before stepping foot on the SU campus.

Sorry, I know that was mean. I hope he finds a home somewhere at a lower level and thrives.

Another example of regression. He was better at GT
