might be our worst crop of forwards I can remember

Woody isn't playing next year so let's set that record straight. He's skinner than Marek. He needs a year or two.

But name a worse trio of forwards? I like Marek's game and we're going to need his facilitator more than anything next year but a senior forward at SU should damn near be dominate and he isn't.

I'm not putting much "stock" in the summer growths this year because who knows if we're even going to have summer sessions or run time for these guys to get better.

I'm mindblown that you don't really see a need for a eli clone who may be a better shooter than him...to absolutely play next year. Our forwards can't shoot well, we need his shooting.
I disagree with you. I think Marek and Qg will be good as Otto just said. And if Bras is healthy, I think he would be a spark off the bench. Griff can only make us much better. But I like the guys we already have. In the past, we rolled out guys like Kong. Which of Marek and Qg is he better than?

Come on man. Bras has shown zip in his time here and the little he has, it’s been against walk ons and firm bench players. That’s what he is. I’m hoping he can be a Southerland type player but we havent even seen half of it yet. Why do u think he is still considering to transfer?

The coaches are even not sold on out crop of forwards hence why they went and got Griff. JB doesnt play the transfer market all that much. He knows that’s the weak point right now without Griff.
I’m not saying Q and Marek aren’t going to be good but they don’t replace Eli’s production and we need to find it somewhere

What about 2000-20001? We had a senior Damone Brown and junior Preston Shumpert as our forwards. Backed up by Ethan Cole. They both had really good seasons, but neither had shown enough to merit positive thoughts going in to that season. When opportunities present themselves, guys step up and take advantage. It helps to have more horses to do it, and that is why I really hope Griffin can play this year, but if not, I think Marek and Q will really step up.

We've been hearing Marek has been working on his shooting for 2 years. Until he shows it I am skeptical.
It was often said that Ichiro had enormous power and would be one of the best power hitters in the game, but he preferred hitting lots of seeing-eye singles.

he has been hurt and he was too thin. His stroke is there. I see the potential. He might not make it here. Others haven't and still found their way to excellent college careers. griff is an excellent player. That is why we wanted him. We have taken transfers we thought could help us many times. It's not what I would call a short list.

And Wade Boggs could have hit 45 HR/year.

Some of yall do realize Griffin was one of the top transfers available out of all of them in the portal...and we did land him. Kid is good! Let's hope he gets that waiver because he will make a huge difference!

I think everyone realizes that.
Some dont by how they think the season will be without him. Hes a bigtime difference maker. So yea...not everyone seems to grasp that. And I said, "some of yall." I didnt say "everyone" I figured you and a few others would know how big of a transfer he was to get ;) BUT some of the stuff on here about how we will be without him has me thinking not "everyone" realizes how good/difference maker he will be if eligible right away. Glad your keeping me on my toes tho! :)

Again.
Reply directly to my posts if you want to challenge me, I've had it with the passive aggressive bs. I have stated multiple times in this thread alone that Griffin is really good and is a substantial addition to the roster. It's the procaiming being done as to how impactful our returning forwards will be that I've taken issue with.

I wasnt even replying to just you. Sorry if it came across like that. It was just more of a statement in general. No harm. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and mine is no better then anyone else's. Didnt mean to come across as the passive aggressive bs stuff.

I went to a Mariners/Yankee game years ago and went to bp just to see Ichiro he was hitting bombs into the upper deck and monument park.

that's cool.
just that some of us see the enormous potential of a QG/Marek/Braswell forward rotation

I mean...I would probably take Brown and Shump over Q and Marek...can't lie

I wont disagree with that. I do as well. I was huge on Quincy the whole recruitment and think hes only scratching the surface of what he will become at cuse. Marek could make a big jump as well and was playing fantastic towards the end of the year and being more aggressive. We need that from him. Braswell is a bit of a unknown still. I just feel griff will give us a huge needed boost! And EVERYONE knows that. Lol. This board sometimes i tell ya :p

That list is pretty short compared to other programs and trust me, I wish we would take a regular transfer every damn year because they excel in our program

Right now, but going in to that season I think it is a wash. Both Damone and Preston stepped up when the opportunity presented itself.

Question:

Why would anyone believe that Griffin who comes from a basketball family would agree to transfer to ANY school who wanted him to play forward?

His future as a pro is at guard, his father works in the business, he transferred to a school that historically plays and develops tall guards, we only had 3 guards on the roster when he transferred here, but everyone seems to believe he is playing forward...

During JB's tenure, we have taken 15 transfers. You are entitled to think that is a short list. I don't. 8 of those have been really good to great for us.

Because he is going to play the 3 here. He isn't taking Buddy's spot at the two. He won't play the point. That leaves the 3.

Alright. Is he going to play point guard?

You believe that Jb is going to sit Buddy in his Jr year for a transfer?
