Albany Post Game

-The one thing we can enjoy this season is watching Donnie. He is easily the most talented freshman we have had in a long time. His defense is very much a work in progress, but he is athletic and talented so let’s enjoy the year with him.
-Carlos looked better. While a good portion of that can be attributed to the hideous Albany defense, at least he looked like he had some confidence.
-I don’t care if he scored 18 points, Bell was just horrific on defense and on the boards.
-Choppa knows how to score. He’ll make some freshman mistakes like he did tonight, but it is worth it to get him the experience and growth. Kudos to Red for starting him and not being stubborn.
-my favorite play of the night was when Petar and Cuffe hustled their asses off to get that loose ball, which ended up in a dunk for Donnie.
-as I mentioned in the game thread, I don’t want Taylor or Carlos shooting from the outside unless there are four seconds or less on the shot clock. That contested 18 footer that Taylor inexplicably threw up resulted in several analytics experts jumping off a bridge.

Which brings me to me next point. Red has to stop subbing when we are on runs. He makes the most boneheaded moves I’ve ever seen. JB would leave a group out there all game if they were playing good.

It's not his fault...

Anyone have this game where Carlos scored 90 points on Youtube? I'd like to see it!

I did like when the commentators said Red "is building a powerhouse."

Yeah, just gotta start to dominate the Le Moyne's of the world like we did U Albany and we'll be on our way!!

Well according to 2026 recruit Jordan Smith, our Practices reminded him of Team Takeover AAU practices. Where defense is optional lol

Oh no u didn't!

Is that a real quote? No way right?

Nice to see a few offensive sets incorporating alley-oops, Jyare climbed the ladder on that one for sure... beautiful. The fact that Bell went another game without making a 3 is genuinely surprising for me, I posted in a pre-season game that I had gotten to the point that I was shocked when Bell MISSED a 3. Well, well, well how the turntables. Donnie played so well, him hitting outside shots is significant. Carlos handled business, we'll see how he shows against Georgetown.

Not nice to see Syracuse switch into zone & immediately give up 1,000,000 offensive rebounds & uncontested mid range jumpers galore...

The only think positive to take away from this is we saw the ball go through the hoop at a very good clip finally. That is it everything else blah

I don't know. They moved the ball. They focused on getting inside. We had assists on about 60% of our FGs. We out-rebounded them by about 20, we were offensively dominant inside, and we got a lot of points from the bench.

I told you guys I would post a pic about my daughter and I in berets and here it is. Surprisingly, people were amused and I became less humiliated as the game wore on. I also cheered in French. “Allez allez, mes petits choux! Sacre bleu! Oui oui oui! Non non non!”The guys behind us love us.

Trying to be positive - we took control early and finally had a pretty easy win against an inferior opponent. The stretch where Donnie Cuffe Petar and Taylor came in, they played with some intensity and sparked us. Let's be ready to go Saturday. Probably says more about us but Georgetown always seems to play their best against us.

I take nothing from this game. Neither team guarded anyone. It's sad but Georgetown is going to be a challenge.
I also take nothing from beating SUNY Albany, or any mid-major. They are 0-4 vs power conference teams. Still time to change this!

If Red is going to play zone, use Naheem, Donnie and Davis at the forwards. Don't over-rotate. Don't have the center chase shooters to the corner. Stay home for rebounds.

Sadly, the best game we've played so far.

Majstorovic needs more time. He is really good rebounder and hustles.

I hate to say this but bringing Lampkin in here is a detriment. He can’t play smaller teams but Red isn’t going to just sit him. We were doing really good with him on the bench.

its negative reinforcement

players dont have incentive to play well bc its not going to earn them more time/expanded role

this might be one of the things i dislike about reds coaching style the most

lampkin seems a shadow of himself from earlier in the season

its hard to assess a player if they are playing injured or at 50%...it just seems like he cant move...theres literally zero chance he can help on defense...he can barely stay with his man

is this his "normal"? i don think so...

will he get healthy this year? no clue

a healthy 100% lampkin is a good player though

There was a good 10 min stretch in the 2nd half where we didn’t even try to play defense. Most possessions I couldn’t tell if we were in man or zone
And this has been going on for too long under Red. Not only do they look like they have no plan defensively, guys don’t even look like they’re trying much of the time. How many times last year and this year has the other team scored and at least one Cuse player puts his palms up and looks over at the coaches. This simply does not happen on other (good) teams.
