...or Flynn. Ennis is far more like Stockton and Kidd. Plays under control (both physically and ego-wise) and keeps his game simple. He has a great point-guard skill set and a phenomenal head on his shoulders.Wasn't sure if the comment was a bit sarcastic but the old school refers to the fundamentally sound pass first point guard (or "team oriented")-- generally associated with the 60's- guys or before, like Clyde Frazier and not later guys like Iverson.

In his mind, it's never about him, always "team first".
This is you imagining that for some nefarious reason. The old school comments are indicative of how point guards used to be expected to play--finding the open man, being a good ball handler and running the offense. Any commentator worth their salt has gone out of their way to give big kudos to Ennis for the cool, calm way he handles things. Just like the old time PGs used to handle things.its only partially complimentary. there is also a hint of "he's not really athletic but relies on guile and technique to get by" going on here.
Seems like you are reaching to find a negative interpretation for what most of us consider a compliment.its only partially complimentary. there is also a hint of "he's not really athletic but relies on guile and technique to get by" going on here.

He's a true pg something that lacks in the game nowadays. That makes it old school I guess.
This is exactly it there just aren't many real pg's anymore. Its almost all scoring guards that have learned to play some pg. Guys that dominate the ball and the shots rather than guys that dominate the game by controlling it through having the ball like Tyler and many of the old time great pg's do/did.
