Allen Griffin on Syracuse’s 2020-21 big men: ‘As a unit, we’re much improved’

Would assume future state, Frank and Jesse split time based on offensive / defensive situational need? Both are raw but Frank sounds like he's better defensively and Jesse has shown flashes of his offense last season.

Athletic has an article today citing an insider saying that Frank is definitely established as the backup 5. For what that is worth.
Hmm... Sounds like now Jesse's gonna have same PT as last yr, so maybe he'll red shirt. I'm thinking JBA will see more playing time at PF than C, to take advantage of his 3pt ability, maybe splitting backup time with Guerrier behind Marek?

And what about Braswell? If he's hitting lights out from three, I expect to see him playing backup at the three spot, assuming he's able to show that he can rebound from there & play some tough D. Might not Guerrier also be playing back up minutes at the three spot? (If QG can show that he can match Braswell's touch from long distance, it seems he'd get the nod over RB in minutes at the SF spot).

JB's gotta be smiling big time these days at the competition he's seeing in practice. He's probably just gonna wait to see who's able to impress in game situations to decide who sees the court.

Then, of course, there's the crazy, thoroughly unexpected possibility that they are all (or most, anyway) impressing when they have their opportunities, making it difficult for him to decide on a core seven. In that case, I expect him to share more of the minutes of the starting five with the 8th & 9th (& even 10th?) players coming off the bench. That's how I think Boeheim do in such a scenario.

It couldn't be one of those seasons, could it?

Still remembering those days when Dion Waiters used to come in off the bench to destroy our opponents...

I'm skeptical about how true that is. Watching Frank play last year I saw an NBA body on a kid who doesn't really know how to play basketball yet. Frank is a kid whose floor is low but whose ceiling is high. If he contributes at all this year I'll get extremely excited about how good he is going to be a year or two down the road. If he really is ready to be our back up 5, we may have landed a real gem.

I'm not sure the article has me sold about FA yet as it was fairly unspecific. That said the points about Richmond were very exciting to hear.
