25 carries? Only three of the top 100 RB's averaged 25 or more carries a game last year.

I agree that the running game has to be better, it doesn't mean you have to force feed any one guy. I'd rather see Morris get Gulley's carries.

And you seem to not even bother looking at defenses when you assess who is "mediocre".

Northwestern was a run heavy team last year, 62% of their plays, 57% of their yards, 69% of their offensive TD's. They are going to be hampered there with the injuries. And before you go but, but, but, what about the Cal game, they were awful last year.

I agree that 25 isn't the norm but I feel like Smith needs more touches to get into a rhythm ... he is so physical and against a D like PSU PTG isn't as effective ... now if you are looking at a 3-3-5 stack then turn him loose :)

I love Morris ... I wish he would get more touches .. but hell having a backfield like that is a nice problem to have.

Yeah, we have to take a step back and see what happens on Saturday. Broyld is no stud, however. Not yet and not even close. He has lots to learn and his obviously still very raw. Potential is there to be a very good NFL hybrid TE if he keeps developing and he's used right! Next game will tell us quite a bit. We were a few plays away here/there to beat PSU but lets be realistic. They aren't very good. FSU would've killed them too. Even my PSU friend thinks so.

People need to step back off the ledge. haha Teams make the biggest adjustment offensively from week 1 to week 2 typically. Give Allen a chance..kid has only been on campus for 4 weeks total..he clearly needs time to gel with the offense, and Coach McDonald is new. If we lost to PSU by 21 points there might be reason to panic a bit..but we didnt.
NO KIDDING. We have a new QB who JUST met the team, we have a new HC, we have a new OC, and we have new WR's*, and we just went against a school that goes by the name "Linebacker U." It would be crazy to not expect them to look at least a little rusty. Sure they need work, but given the circumstances, you're absolutely right. There's definitely no need to panic yet.

*Technically they aren't new, but their roles have changed dramatically in the last year.

anyone can get open if they have enough time to run. even Deion Sanders couldnt cover someone for an infinite amount of time.

Right. It's a wonder why all teams don't just keep 8 or 9 in to block, give their QB all day, and let their 1 or 2 WR run around and eventually get open!

You haven't made much sense this whole thread. C'mon.

Alen apparently was playing Pro-style QB. And he appeared to be a deer in the headlights. I would be too given how quickly his blocking deteriorated. But why not counter and run the Qb off a fake hand off. If i remember he did it once and had a nice gain. It seemed like every time it would be a handoff to the middle of the line for a gain of 1 or 2 yards. And he would just stand there and watch. The defense never worried about him taking off for a run or a roll out pass.I thought he was a hurdler in HS.

Please name the 6-7 opponents who are better than PSU. I'll give you Clemson and FSU to get you started.

Since i got absolutely hammered for making the statement that Penn State was putrid and we only play a couple teams worse than them...

Exhibit A:
Central Florida 34
Penn State 31

While I can't say PSU is very good, I don't think they are "putrid". And while UCF hasn't played anyone great, they are 3-0.

O'Leary has turned that program into something. Those guys are a good team. If you fail to recognize that...then well quite frankly you don't understand college football.

Yep and that same UCF team manhandled an Akron team that gave Michigan all they could handle in the Big House. Do you follow football or is this a make it up as you go operation? UCF is a lot better than you think.

LOL. get a grip dude. get out of your mom's basement and take off your SU goggles. Pathetic.

Penn State is horrible. SU is horrible. Such is life.

now we are justifying Penn state not being awful by talking up Central Florida. Wow. You lost this one my man, its ok. Life goes on.

... for what its worth, Central Florida would go 0-8 in the ACC. Maybe 1-7 if they played SU or BC.

In 2 of the past 3 seasons UCF has two bowl victories including one over UGA ... an SEC team ... I think you ought to go and see a proctologist so you can have your head removed. If you followed football you would know that UCF is a solid team and in spite of all the sanctions PSU was 8-4 last year ... should have been 9-3 if Fickle could make one FG and was good enough to beat Wisconsin and Northwestern ... its not my fault that you can't wrap your mind around the fact that a team could be good even if it isn't a traditional power.

UCF would probably go .500 in the ACC

The only teams I would say can handle UCF without question in the ACC would be FSU & Clemson ... I think U of M would be tough too ... however they would stand toe to toe with the other teams in the conference I have no doubt in my mind about that.

absolutely. They beat Georgia in the liberty bowl and had an 11 win season in which they were a top 25 team. HMMMM

Im with you..i think UCF is a good program with the opportunity to become a juggernaut. They have the largest attendance of any school in college football. They are located in FLORIDA. Thanks to O'leary they have state of the art complexes and a new stadium. They are not USF playing in a NFL stadium that is not close to campus. They could be Florida's version of Ohio St without being a state school.

And since they are a commuter school anyone can get in there .. literally ... I don't think you have to worry about non-quals LOL ...

You are one of those people that are really a NFL fan that happens to live in a college city. You sound like a jaded Miami Dolphins fan who decided to take up SU sports cause your main team sucks..and now you are angry that Cuse isnt a northeast power at the current moment. Sit back and relax. It will all be ok.

UCF is ranked #26 in the ESPN Power Poll and in the other receiving votes for the AP and USA Today. Thanks to the OP for bringing this topic back up as it confirms his lack of knowledge. The few points i provided him with credit for in his original postings are now taken back. No score for you TB. Go back to watching the Devil Rays.

What was that again TB? Couldn't here you the first time.

LOL oh being up for 5/8 of the game doesn't count ... they really suck leading at halftime ... UCF is better than a lot of people realize it is what it is.

Your point being? LOL.

Wow alot of dudes living in their mom's basements on this forum. To be expected I guess.
UCF is not good and they beat Penn State. Penn State beat us.

And yes, Central Florida would go winless in the ACC. You have your incorrect opinion that they wouldnt, and I believe that they would.

Son, Ive lived here pretty much my entire life. I have forgotten more about college sports than you will ever know (this is fact). In my 40 years of life, i have been lucky to see all the SU games that I have. There is not a bigger fan alive.

Great venues such as Michigan at the big house, both met life games, road games at notre dame/usc/miami, multiple times at Pitt/BC/VA Tech, etc. Its been a treat. win or lose.

You are one of those dilusional and sad fans who cant see reality. probably thinks we will go 10-3 every year, despite not doing it since you were playing Dungeons and Dragons with your buddies.

Without questions you backed Robinson and thought we were good back then as well. I know you will deny all this and lie to save face, but real fans see the errors of the program and expect improvement. Are we improved from 5 years ago? Sure. Will we ever be the program we were back in the day? Zero chance. Zero.

So get off your high horse. Or just go away period.
