Alyson Onyon Joins Syracuse Athletics as Director of Performance Nutrition

I think we all know someone, perhaps many, in our lives that has made themselves considerably worse off as a result of alcohol abuse. But can we seriously name one where serious alcohol consumption has been a benefit? Then why would one believe alcohol would benefit an athletic career? Asking for a friend...

Or maybe a couple beers?
Dude. I live out west. We mountain bike, we ski. We drink beer. Because we ride, we wind up
Eating what our body needs and don’t get scientific. Then we go ride again, and eat whatever we want. These dudes are 19 and play basketball all day. They will do the same, unless they actually prepare the food, cook it and serve it.

I'm guessing somewhere in there the pooping happens.

I believe that Jim Browns game day fasting absolutely helped him perform if he believed it did. A super high level athlete already in great shape isn't likely to gain much of a physical performance edge from nutrition that day. Being in the right mental space was likely more advantageous to him than a big breakfast could have been.

Eat whatever you want...like doritos?

I think a free people are missing this post's most important point:

If you don't cook healthy food and put it right in front of a college kid, they'll eat whatever is most convenient. The nutrition program is incredibly important to keep the players eating right.
