Not good for her if she is only getting 3 minutes in an exhibition however wolley and camp did not play for su. Have to wait and see if her minutes increase.Tennessee crushing Carson Newman in their annual exhibition game at half 64 v 23. Rough start for Latham only 3 mins of play, zero pts, 2 fouls, 1 TO.
Final game stats for Latham - 10mins of play 2reb, 1TO, 3PF.Tennessee crushing Carson Newman in their annual exhibition game at half 64 v 23. Rough start for Latham only 3 mins of play, zero pts, 2 fouls, 1 TO.
If I recall correctly, wasn’t her father upset about her role here- maybe wanted her taking 3’s, playing the perimeter more as a freshman instead of being considered as an inside player? She did take 21 threes last year shooting .286 but excelled playing underneath. Wishing her the best but she was valued here, starting 26 of our 32 games averaging almost 28 minutes a game as a frosh. Sad that we have seen players transfer, lose time and opportunity on the court elsewhere, lose even more patience resulting in multiple transfers after their time here. Things could still change for her at Tenn, she definitely has talent.Another Tenn blowout yesterday Tenn 101-53 Samford. Latham stats 8min 4pts 2reb 2 pf.
Thought she would be playing more. Tenn is playing hard pressing defense with constant shift changes. 8 players with at least 15 min of playing time.
I think she is a case of Parents thinking you are better than you actually are plus compensation inequity that exists between Syracuse and the SEC! She is very talented...and I think her dad was looking at SEC players like Angel Reese and thinking his girl could get similar cash. Now, the competition and Tennessee and the rest of the SEC, is tough, and only time will tell if she is the player...her Dad thinks she is...or can become. She would have looked really nice on this year's team. She would have been a featured player...Sad!!If I recall correctly, wasn’t her father upset about her role here- maybe wanted her taking 3’s, playing the perimeter more as a freshman instead of being considered as an inside player? I just looked at Tenn’s roster. They are loaded with players whose eligibility runs out after this year - looks like they will lose at least 7 players. They currently have only 2 underclasswomen (2 sophomores including Latham). Maybe the NIL is attractive enough for her to wait till next year to get more minutes? Regardless they are going to have to hit the recruiting trail very hard to add players to their roster. They will be starting from scratch next year. I agree she would have a been a really nice factor for our current team but I really like our freshman additions, Kiera Scott and Shy Hawkins so I’m optimistic about our future.I think she is a case of Parents thinking you are better than you actually are plus compensation inequity that exists between Syracuse and the SEC! Well I guess she is happy she is allowed to shoot so many 3's. As I remember, that was something she and her dad wanted.Had 18 minutes off the bench in an 89-75 win over Middle Tenn. 2 for 5 all from 3 point range, 4 reb, 2 fouls, 1 assist,1to, 1 block, 6 points.
The Lady Vols have landed 3 Top-50 players in the last week:-5 SF Deniya Prawl-5 SF Jaida Civil-4 PF Lauren Hurst - all W/ so Latham will have competition next.I just looked at Tenn’s roster. Something tells me Latham is going to be in the portal again soon. She is a nice player and I hope it all works out for her.The Lady Vols have landed 3 Top-50 players in the last week:-5 SF Deniya Prawl-5 SF Jaida Civil-4 PF Lauren Hurst - all W/ so Latham will have competition next.

Dad’s advice may wear thin with his daughter if she ends up in a bad situation (minimal PT) because of him and his antics. Some athletes learn the hard way. After all the stuff her dad said?
No thanks
Sounds like the women’s equivalent to Quincy GuerrierWell I guess she is happy she is allowed to shoot so many 3's. As I remember, that was something she and her dad wanted.
At a place like Tennessee, they recruit over you, they still have the mystic, just have had bad coaches since Pat.I think Coach Jack might from the details I know. Alyssa left in tears. Yes dad was the cause but it was for the money only. I think coach would choose the actual player and their feelings if it came to that. If Alyssa could stand up to her parents.
Even though this isn't confirmed...I too believe strongly it was about the money!! We are losing players...where Syracuse checks all the boxes and would be the perfect scenario for a player in terms of coaches and playing time...and they choose another program..... Several of these players have gone to the SEC, which because of football, they have a bunch of Cash to spread around! I just hope everyone who loves Syracuse Women's Basketball realizes that the lack of financial support we can offer is significantly hindering our recruiting... and that we all need to do whatever we can to financially support the program. At a place like Tennessee, they recruit over you, they still have the mystic, just have had bad coaches since Pat.
They finally seem to have found one who could coach.
Her father made a bad decision for her, but parents do that sometimes.
Coach Jack just confirmed in an article in the Post Standard today, that we lost Latham to Tennessee because of money! She said we were not even able to get close to their offer. I know for a fact, that this situation is also true for some top rated recruits over the past two cycles. If the Syracuse community and University cares about women's basketball, more financial resources need to be shifted to the program, or we will find ourselves not competitive at all in the ACC. This season , in the ACC, will be a huge challenge for us as it is with our first four opponents : Notre Dame, Duke, North Carolina State, and North Carolina.Even though this isn't confirmed...I too believe strongly it was about the money!! She's not going to say it was a parent issue. Hyman, Latham dads' both had issues with playing time.Coach Jack just confirmed in an article in the Post Standard today, that we lost Latham to Tennessee because of money! Let' Go Orange...
but she is making more money there..She’s started the last 2 games for Tennessee but is playing the same minutes as she did as a non starter - about half the minutes she did here and is doing well. She’s still not a good 3 point shooter but has improved her offensive game efficiency inside the arc and her defense with rebounding and getting steals. She appears to be playing pretty much the same role she did here - an inside impact player. She is taking more 3’s there but her % has slipped even more. Wish she had stayed and continued to be a key player here.

Frankly, the monetary issue for men and women needs to be addressed if SU wants to be a serious national contender. At least football is enjoying a resurgence. I hope HCFB can keep the momentum building there. Keeping players like Latham and on the men's side Freeman, for more than one year is required to build and sustain a winning program. We just do not have the donor base, I know of no one who can or will give 10 or 15 million to the sports program so we can play on the big kids' playground. She's not going to say it was a parent issue.
