Estime might, but has below Avg hands and is a bad route runner. he has the skill set if he develops but he needs to work at it
I think he has pretty good hands. How many times does he drop the ball when he's targeted? Estime is playing out of position. He is not a outside WR but he still caught fades over taller defenders when asked to. Keep in mind his soph. year he was coming along but Hunt got hurt and then he got hurt and missed several games. This will be his first year he can play the position thats best for him. He's gonna catch 25 balls for 350 yards just off bubbles screen alone. Estime might have the best work ethic on the team. He will be ready.

Strickland has a chance to become homerun hitting type of playmaker. He showed last year as a Freshman that he has the ability to be an elite playmaker in the ACC. I don't think we have seen that type of play making ability as a freshman in a long time. This offense is going to have some weapons for Dino to play with. The big question will be filling in the holes on the OL with ACC quality talent. Between Conway, and Adams there is potential there, but the true Freshman will take a year or so. As for the skill players, we have guys who produced in the ACC as true Freshman and Sophomore. It's up to Dino to maximize their potential in a new offense.

With what we have coming back, I wouldn't be shocked to see Syracuse as a surprise team in the conference next year. At very worst, Babers 2nd season is when we will be able to tell how this fit is going to work. The depth isn't quite there, but this isn't an empty cupboard.
I feel the same way. Growth of the O line is key. As far as the rest, we have good young talent but we cant afford injuries to key people like ED, Ish and Bris.

Here's hoping that the redshirt OL [and Conway] are better than the outgoing players from last year. That's a big key IMO. Would also be nice if we could avoid significant injuries at that positional unit for the first time in 3 years.

In their first year as starters, the likely replacements for Foy, Robinson & Trudo won't be better. It's too much to expect. They have better size, and might prove to be better over their SU careers, but not in 2016.
This offense is built around a second year QB (best prospect we have had in years), a better set of RBs, a multi-year starter at TE and two returning OL veterans, and legit returning talent at 3 of the 4 WR spots in a Babers offense. That is a lot, and should be enough to make up for having young talent in 3 OL spots.

We didnt have any injuries with that group last season. O line progression and durability will be huge.

This play here told me all I needed to know about Jordan Fredericks (if you can tell what happened because of the terrible camera angle):

That's not necessarily true. I predict Conway > Foy this year. Foy was all right, but hardly Jutin Pugh. Trudo [peaked early in his career] and Robinson [ditto] are both replaceable components. Maybe Palmer moves inside to Guard and is immediately better than Trudo or Robinson, or both. I agree, there are a lot of question marks, but I wouldn't necessarrily dismiss out of hand that the new group won't be as good as the outgoing group just because they are less experienced.

I'm very, very curious to see how the OL coaching improves the unit's overall performance. That's a key factor, in my mind.

i will also be interesting to see how pace of play and speed of playing calling help the oline.. tired dlines are easier to block and quicker pace means simpler schemes by the D hopefully.

Jordan Fredericks came from a fast pace ,no huddle, and no playbook spread offense. This type of scheme is right up his alley.

Great news.

I'm more concerned about our defense.

Playing a Tamp 2 without a dominant pass rush means that our defense will be on the field a lot and that's a problem.
agree about pass rush. Most concerning thing imo about this team in 2016. Especially with our problems in the secondary.

Agreed but you cant win without points. I see this team getting putting over 30 up a game

This! The single thing that lost it for me with FHCSS was his famed time out during the Virginia game when we marched down the field first and goal and Shafer called that time out "on first down" because he said "our players were tired and gassed". Right then and there I lost all faith in Shafer to be a HC to lead us ever offensively and score points.

I highly doubt HCDB is going to call a time out on any first or second down or any down because our players are "tired and gassed". Go Orange the new fast!

your right coaching can be a big factor in this. We underachieved last season. We had three 3 year starters on the line. We should have been better. Pass protection brokedown often.

Coach Babers will make opposing QBs wear a raw steak tied to their necks and forget about on feeding the D-Line before games, problem solved. Seriously, if the plays are called as fast as they are now in practice, the new kids will get plenty of reps to develop. Defenses "mature" faster than offenses, generally, which works in our favor. Finally, Bcub's "little"* boy is going to break out and become dominant this season. He's too smart to not pick up on his assignments and too smart to not adapt to the the new Defensive scheme. He was good as a freshman last season and will be better this season. I don't think he peaks this season but he shines and helps buy time for the new kids as O-Lines will have to focus on him.

* "little" is only used for the purpose of irony.

He didn't call a timeout against Virginia and they settled for a field goal . He called timeout at FSU and scored a touchdown.

Don't. Saw some stuff that leads me to think that whatever issues there were with pass rushing last year was NOT the fault of the players...

Without going into any detail- Stuff you read or stuff you saw in games or stuff you saw in practice?

With this offense, our defense will on the field a lot. I'd get used to it.
