Without Sullinger so not sure if he is going to vote Syracuse #1 because of that. I honestly don't care about rankings that much but seriously only Syracuse would not be voted #1 over a team that actually lost.

Davis is not a believer in Cuse. I think he had SU #8 in his preseason rankings and thinks they're basically a team of nice roll players. So I don't think he'll be voting SU high in his rankings all year.

I think he could make a reasonable argument to not move OSU down, but moving them up would be a bit of a stretch.

Really, Seth? So they didn't lose badly in a tough environment without Sullinger, and that deserves the reward of being moved up?

I find that a little hard to believe.

This talk is nonsense. We are not a #1 team .. yet. The losing teams lost to good teams away .. we beat down a crappy team .. no comparison.

BS.

The team is 10-0. They have good wins on the resume. They have no losses. They started top 5.

This is how it works.

Why are people struggling with it?

It's college ball, every team is flawed.

Is your arguement that we needed to beat a good team the same day those teams lost, or that Stanford and Florida are not good wins? If you think you need to win a road game, should we be bumped up to #1 if we beat NC State next weekend, regardless of what anybody else does?

Rankings are kinda silly, but I like the idea there is some objectiveness to it - lose and you drop. Otherwise UNC would still be ranked #1, with pollsters saying they know they lost two games, but on paper they're still the best team so they stay at #1.

I'm glad that Seth isnt the only one that votes.

We are #1 and I for one am psyched. I could give 2 craps if we "deserve it" or not. Why do people on this board actually complain when we get a #1 ranking? Jesus it's #1! Be proud of it. So what if it may not last. You know how many programs would KILL to be #1 for one day?

My god some of you need to get a grip!

We have a head coach who is 67 years old and still has the fire and the desire to be able to throw a team ranked #1 in the country out on the floor. Damn, that's pretty good.

Every Cuse fan should enjoy every single day of it cause you don't want to see this board implode if the program ever has an average or below average year. We've been pretty lucky for two generations. That's right.

No way we are not #1. Not saying we are the best team but unless they are changing the rules, we are #1.

Heard Seth Davis last week saying NC should be #1 ... take him with a truckload of salt.

OSU didn't just barely lose, they got whipped (shot 39 and 29% from 2 and 3 pt range). Sullinger or not, they lose that game to a 2-loss team. SU moves to #1.

Here's how I would rank top 5 this week:
1. Syracuse
2. Louisville
3. Kentucky
4. Ohio State
5. North Carolina

Speaking of comparisons... When Kentucky became #1, this was their resume. What had they done to "deserve" it? Our wins thus far stack up very well with this group. In any case, the point is that it doesn't matter. Rankings are a war of attrition. Start high and lose last and you'll be #1. Not rocket science.

Date Opponent Result / Time Record
Nov 11 Marist Won 108-58 1-0
Nov 15 Kansas Won 75-65 2-0
Nov 19 Penn St. Won 85-47 3-0
Nov 20 Old Dominion Won 62-52 4-0
Nov 23 Radford Won 88-40 5-0
Nov 26 Portland Won 87-63 6-0

Means Nothing one way or the other, The only thing that matter's is holding the trophy April 1st. If SU is voted #1 How about someone starting a Poll on how long they hold it and how far they drop when they lose. VCU wouldn't have made the Tourney last year without expansion.

Really?

Kenucky lost to an unranked team. In fact, in the AP poll Indiana is 39th. That's behind the Stanford team that we already beat, not to mention a Florida team that was Top 10 at the time of our game.

The point is that the losing teams lost. End of story. Are we really a #1? Maybe not, but if the preceding polls have any validity at all, we have to move up.

I would probably flip OSU and Kentucky due to JS being out and I consider OSU's loss 'better' than Kentucky's loss. I also believe that IU should not have been able to hang with Kentucky and that game showed some serious flaws in a young Kentucky team.

For some reason we have some fans who are either just too humble or are scared.

There's no doubt we'll be number #1 this week. That's just the way the voting system works.

Doesn't mean we are undoubtedly the best team, though. More of a reflection of where and how we choose to schedule.

Glad to see the whiny themes of "Syracuse gets no respect" and "Seth Davis doesn't know anything [unless he praises Syracuse]" are still relatively popular.

It's been a good era to be a SU fan. I liked the Wes Johnson team a lot and this one has great potential. I love being #1 because it stakes a place for us as a contender this year. Our young guys will determine if we can be #1 at the end or just along the way. How fast can they develop?

I'm surprised we haven't gotten the token "i dont want us to be ranked number one because we historically do bad when we are and its too much pressure on the kids and we need the underdog mentality" post yet...

CBBall polls are meaningless. Also Ws and Ls aren't a big deal. Isn't the purpose of the polls to vote on who you think the best team is? And not who has the best record? If someone feels that UNC is the best team in the country then they should vote them #1 despite the 2 Ls. This isn't CFB where you reward for record.

I just read that Tweet -- it was a complete teaser to get people to check out his bracket later tonight, definitely not a shot a SU.
