Andre Szmyt: UFL St Louis Battlehawks

Somewhat on topic but with how good NFL kicking has become, has there been any talk about narrowing the goalpost width again? I think it’s stupid to have 25-yard PATs and teams now just have to cross midfield to get a shot at 3 points. Anything inside the 40 feels automatic which kills any sense of drama. Shrink the target to get the percentages down. Prize sniper accuracy over strong legs.

Not saying it shouldn't be done...the posts seem so much more narrow when you are on the field compared to seeing it on TV.

When I go check some of the HS, college, and pro stadiums to complete light levels or fine tunes I am always in awe of how easy some kickers make it look.

I think JMA requested you by name to retune our lighting in late Nov

The number of kicks that seem like they would go in with 2yd wide posts is amazing.

its interesting to note that orginally the fields had no end zones. Thats why the goal posts were in the line for so long. Then the moved posts to the back like college, then they moved them back to the front. Then they settled on the back of the end zone again.

its strange that they haven't evolved the width in all these years.

Looks like they made them almost 5 feet narrower in 1991. But cool history none the less!
