Angeli has arrived

The hell he doesn’t, game winning, game changing throws made in tight windows under ridiculous pressure literally and figuratively.

That’s the definition of having “it”. Here we go again me vs the naysayers once again just like last year with mcord. As I’ve said elsewhere this guy is McCordesque.

Doesn’t have quite the same arm strength but DOES have many of the same qualities.
Where he’s going to struggle all year is with balls batted down at the line of scrimmage, that’s because he can’t change his height.

Other than that he’s a gamer and will continue to be. Yes play Collins some vs Gate but not because your looking to replace but because you were going to do it anyways when you get comfortably ahead
What qualities do they share? Angeli stares down WRs, has been wildly inaccurate, zero control at the LOS, plays hesitant and with zero confidence. McCord was accurate, had the utmost control at the LOS, could go through progressions, and did not hesitate, was confident in what he saw and how he read the defense and pulled the trigger. 2 good drives, one of them being a wide open busted coverage 53 yard pass does not erase what we saw for 97% of the game.

I liked this because i thought it was sarcasm
Yeah, no, these dopes are serious. I will go back and see if these are the same dopes that we’re saying Mccord sucked too that I was battling the first three games last year.

I’m not saying you’re incorrect here, but I don’t remember people here saying McCord sucked. A lot of Ohio state fans said he wasn’t good but not on this site that I can remember.

They were. I’ll dig it up. And I’ve been sure to take painstaking efforts to say Angeli is not quite as good as McCord, and thought Collins may have deserved a shot in the fourth quarter

Edit: looking back most were not saying that he sucked but more questioning his overall abilities early in the season and most certainly after pitt. Damn screenshots I took won’t link here.

That hit he took in the 2nd quarter on 4th down really shook him. He has probably never been hit that hard ever because at ND their line doesn't let a blitzer go completely untouched on the QB's blindside.

The #'s don't lie he missed his next several passes either off target or not on the same page with WR's until he woke up late.

One could argue if a more experienced QB would let that shake him for as long as it did or should he have been more aware that his OL all of which are new playing together were missing an assignment, maybe / maybe not.

I know there's alot of whatifs to be said about yesterday but if the people here really have a problem with what's happening at QB then it's not with Angeli, its with Fran Brown and Jeff Nixon two coaches that are going to be coaching in the NFL someday while you guys are playing Madden.

The biggest issue I have seen with Angeli so far and I am not sure it’s him, but it’s clear he and Willis aren’t on the same page. We were spoiled by LQA catching passes out of the backfield last year. Willis was not in the position Angeli expected him to be on at least 4 times yesterday.

This comment is basically just an OSU fan talking about Junior season McCord. Almost identical. Lol

This is about the dumbest take I’ve ever read on here
It was not a good 400 yards. This will not be good enough against ACC competition.

He has thrown two of the worst interceptions I have ever seen the past two weeks.

He is the king of 3 and outs...just like Devito was.

He played well on the last 3 drives but other than that not so good.

Its a reasonable position.

Is there such a thing as "not a good 400 yards?"

I can't imagine the roller coaster of emotions that Steve went through yesterday. After that miserable pick in the 4th quarter that felt psychologically like it lost us the game, he had to be wondering whether his job was in jeopardy. Now, the job is obviously 100% his until further notice.

I'm lukewarm on Steve. Everything about him seems very average. Obviously that can change and he can grow into the position. We were spoiled a bit with McCord whose accuracy was incredible, and Garrett who was an extremely gifted and elusive runner.

Colgate will give the team a nice low-stress tune up to work out some kinks. This Clemson team doesn't look invincible, but obviously winning will be extraordinarily difficult.

Your statement is ruined by saying 2 of the worst interceptions you’ve ever seen. UConn one was bad but Tennessee was just a great play by the defense, the guy tipped it and the D-linemen made a diving interception.

The Tennessee interception was horrific...threw it directly into chest of defensive player.

An even better example would be LQAllen. Some trigger happy folks questioned his speed, running ability, and laughingly, even his "heart". (Lol)
And the only reason that was even a suggestion was because he wasnt Sean Tucker. But as we eventually saw, he wasn't Tucker in burst and speed but he bought a lot of good/great skills, w/ maybe the best hands I've seen in a RB.
Angeli struggled, but we still won.
Coming to definitive conclusions after 2 games is just silly

so Nixon started coaching in 1998 and Fran Brown in 2012 collegiately. Between them both they have accumulated ~40 years of coaching and some think that we should look at our plan B? If the coaches thought Collins was the guy at this time, he would be the guy.
People need to ease up. He is not McCord we get it. He has some things to focus on, AS DO ALL QBs every week. Let's see how the season progresses. Some people are acting like he can't get better which is ridiculous. New QB, new oline, new WRs. It may take them a few games to sync.

And these goofs conveniently forget that McCord had the exact same type of interceptions. The one against UNLV I thought made that game over.

There’s a good amount of you that forget how bad Devito was here. Angeli threw for 275 against Tennessee who likely has a very good defense. In his one full year as a starter Devito threw for under 200 yards 7 times. We were spoiled last year with McCord, but Angeli is not close to as bad as Devito ever was.

Stop bringing logic and reasoning to the table. You're killing the narrative.

Kyle Mccord was a 5 star recruit that won a starting job at a flagship college football program before transferring to us, Steve Angeli was a 3 star recruit who was a 3rd string QB and at times the backup QB before transferring to us. Very different situations.

By no means is Angeli in Kyle territory but don’t forget that the only game the first 4 weeks where Kyle looked really good was Ga Tech. He threw for a lot of yards against Ohio, Stanford and Holy Cross but he got picked 4 times and really only played well in spurts. And those 3 teams aren’t exactly cream of the crop. Angeli needs time to click with his weapons as a spring transfer. Roll him out more to give him time, and hopefully he will develop chemistry very soon with what looks like a nice group of weapons. Again I am very aware that he is no Kyle but not many are
