6. Syracuse (2-1)
Good teams find different ways to win. After a dominant 20-10 win against Virginia last weekend, Vermont offered Syracuse more resistance than expected. There’s something about Vermont that gives Syracuse fans pause.
The Catamounts dominated faceoffs, but Drake Porter played like a first-team All-American. His 20 saves were the most by a Syracuse goalie since 2007. With many of the usual suspects (Johns Hopkins, Hobart, Cornell) off the schedule this year, the ‘Cuse will see some new faces in the coming weeks. The Orange get a visit from Stony Brook on Friday and then Hofstra next Saturday.
It’ll be a little louder, too. Fans were allowed in the building this weekend for the first time in more than a year.
