Coach Search Options after Autry

Unless I'm missing something, which can absolutely be the case with how fast you have to read to keep up with this thread, but after it was announced last night that Hodgson wasn't the guy, an insider posts that they think something could be announced today (which I think they were just speculating). Then, we get about 30-40 pages where everyone focuses on coaches who aren't involved in the ncaa tournament first round.

Maybe as a group we're rushing too quickly based on tidbits that weren't really reported from an insider but just passed as something they thought could happen? Maybe Syracuse isn't really zeroing in on Hop or GMac and actually doing a national search? Maybe?

The timing is the problem you can't just have a national search now should have already been done and over with at this point. This is when you should be locking in your choice. Portal opens in 2 weeks they need to be ready to go ASAP.

If you are just now doing a national search you are way behind and will be coming in while other coaches are in the middle of negotiations which will make things 10000 time harder.

Nobody waits until the tournament is over to do a search the last couple of years these things are done before the first weekend starts but but but this is Syracuse and never forward thinking and always late to the party so it make sense that we are just now getting started.

Why not we expect the same from melo?

Surprised not to be hearing more on Hop here (at least the 3 consecutive pages i read a couple times a day). I think he's electric. We know he can coach, can recruit. He brings the passion and energy, bleeds orange. Liked by kids and adults. Hope if and when he's chosen, he gets full support.
What about his time at UW makes you think he can coach? And how can he recruit in the NIL era where 90% of the game is money?

Hodgson not coming here is public knowledge now, but Providence wasn’t mentioned. he’s most likely in active negotiations with both schools. Hodgson lost a major bargaining chip when the Cuse news dropped. It doesn’t benefit him at all to leak that. The only reason he would is because Cuse picked and told BH it wasn’t him - so he says he’s “withdrawing”.

That’s the major news here, not the insider tidbits as much. Even if Cuse was unable to meet the NIL level BH wanted… you would think he’d want our name involved to keep the pressure on USF/PC.

I think it’s pretty simple. If there’s an announcement today, it’s Hop. If there’s one in a few days, it’s most likely GMac.

Agree. Im holding onto Thoughts and Prayers for TJ!

I’m also holding onto Thoughts and Prayers for it not being Hop.

I’m also holding onto to thoughts and prayers that Gerry will beat Duke and also that My in-laws won’t annoy the hell out of me when I have to hang out with them tomorrow.

Hopefully one of the above comes true.
