According to John Garcia, this kid just tweeted he committed to Syracuse. No profile on either site, 2013 prospect, first team all state in RI.

Highlight Vid

I like it, especially as a first commit. Sets the tone early. He isn't as physically impressive as Hunt and Broyld, but he does a bit of everything and looks like he has better accuracy and feel than any HS commit we have gotten in a long time.

I think it is also a good time to bring up a point. People complain that Marrone has not developed a backup QB, but I think it's important to remember just how important Johnny Miller was as a QB recruit. Like the young man in this highlight reel, Miller could do a bit of everything and was likely much further along than our other guys. This is not to say that Kinder, Hunt, or Broyld cannot play QB here, but I think Marrone's loyalty to Nassib, the hype for Miller, the hard push for Kelly, and now hopefully this guy, all kind of show the kind of QB that the staff wants to build the offense around. If a more physically dangerous player can develop the same skills, all the better, otherwise, they'll be bringing their talents to the skill positions or defense.

I REALLY REALLY hope this guy is the next Andrew Luck. However, I have to admit it's hard to trust the staff's eye for QBs at this point.

He looks a lot more polished than Nassib ever has. He's not jumping around in the pocket, he has a nice drop back, and just plain old looks comfortable (obviously it's high school though). He's definitely got a very accurate arm with the ability to throw deep, and he can RUN the football. Not as well as Hunt and Broyld, but he's also a better passer by leaps and bounds. Let's be honest guys a QB's job is to, first and foremost, PASS the football. This kid look like a great get.

he looks a lot like Nassib to me!! FWIW

in what way?

he can throw a deep ball and actually hit his receiver-

when he runs it doesnt look like his knees are taped together

shows some touch on the shorter throws

I like the commit. Get him early before some of the bigger programs get involved. You have to trust the staff's assessment. Frequently posters complain about SU not getting on kids early enough, not the case with this kid. He is a big strong kid, good feet, and appears to have a good arm. He also has another year to develop his skills. Looks like he plays on a strong team, maybe some teammates down the road.

I dont get worked up about hi-lite tapes outside of just gauging size & speed...you can put together a hi-lite tape of Nassib hitting the deep ball

Two of his WRs looked impressive (#6 + 14) not sure if they're underclassmen.

How do you figure that?

Really? I didn't see one case of happy feet or turtling. Not sure of the level of competition, but in this video AF completed more long passes than RN has in his entire SU career. Many of Nassibs long gainers involve significant YAC to qualify.

Neither of the scouting services even know he exists, yet HCDM has him in the bag already. I wonder who knows more - the "experts" or our coach?

You guys notice the offense he's running?

Ya I saw that too. Also had some real nice throws over 30 yards. I know its a highlight real but I saw approximately 6 very nice long balls. That's six more then Ryan completed this year to wide open receivers.

You guys notice the offense he's running? Take a good look at it.

I definitely miss seeing the QB run as a strategy and not just to save his life. It puts so much more pressure on the defense.

How do you figure that?

By all accounts, Loeb and Kinder aren't even close to pushing Nassib. Assuming that is true, can't really see why you'd say either are good pick ups. There is a chance neither ever see the field for meaningful series.

Miller is/was hurt, so that's an N/A at this point.

Jury still very much out on Hunt and AB, but there is upside. We'll have to see how it shakes out though many think AB's future isn't even behind center.

Doesn't remind me of Nassib. Reminds me of Zach Collaros.

Kids not real fast when he runs but he is a very powerful runner and able to break tackles. Very accurate passer in the pocket and on the run.

have you seen tape of nassib in high school against similar comp?
