Anthony Francis - QB (2013) Commit

sooo -- what are the chances we are involved with his teammate as well?

also per his twitter he was at the game last night ... wonder what coaches were their in attendance as well?

I'll bite...

What is the offense he's running?

Loeb looks like Daryle Lamonica in his tape.

That's my point. I don't know how people make definitive statements about a HS Jr in RI vs a D1 Jr based off a high light tape. Lets ge him here and see how he does and stacks up vs the other guys who will be on the roster at the time. It's one thing to say he looks good and someone that might help down the road, it's another for people to take the high lights and already deem him better at this or that than our starting QB.

For all of you who complain about Nassib's accuracy and assume this is our latest QB savior, he completed only 52% of his passes.

i didnt see any "better" posts-just upbeat about a kid who can throw a completion over 7 yards

The problem with the passing attack is 30 yds and out, and that's not just on the QB. 10 to 30 they do pretty well.

Rewatch the pinstripe bowl

That is the last time Ryan completed a pass that traveled 30 yards in the air.

I'm not saying the kid is better then Ryan I'm just saying he looks to do some things well that Ryan has struggled with. The odds are the kid never sniffs ryans numbers. And for the record I don't think Ryan is even close to the main problem with our offense.

Nassib, has nothing to do with this kid because he will be gone when he gets here. They have the same build but it is impossible to tell how similar they are from highlight tapes (and nassib ran a option attack in HS). IMO we need to compare him to the kids who he will compete against when he gets here. I say he can't compete right away. The difference of competition will make it almost impossible. People say the NYC kids struggle (they do). Well, this is RI and that is like JV in the south. Hunt will be the starter and we will see how that goes.

According to John Garcia, this kid just tweeted he committed to Syracuse. No profile on either site, 2013 prospect, first team all state in RI.

Highlight Vid
not bad for a jr. Needs to get stronger obviously, especially with the arm. Not a game changer guy nor would I expect any big time offers but a looks like a guy with potential with seeing how he grows and develops. Guess we'll wait and see.

He just tweeted to John Garcia that he is not committed...I think...

Looks like an athlete. What offense did Nassib run in high school? I've read on here that he was a runner in HS.
Good point about Johnny Miller. I was very hopeful that he would show up for fall camp this year healthy and ready to make a great impression. I guess we'll never know. Does anyone know where Miller is now?

I'm excited - this kid reminds me of Paulus :D

Call it whatever you want but it's not a wishbone, it's not triple option, it's not a pro-style power I. He's mostly running the O out of the shotgun, option read, running around, and passing all over the place from drop backs to rollouts. We're recruiting a QB who's adept at running a college offense that people are clamoring to run and what some people say Syracuse wants to use. He doesn't have to be taught how to ride the bike without training wheels.

The fact people are using this highlight tape against clearly inferior RI competition as a measuring stick to Nassib really shows how stupid some of the people here are. The corners on most of those deep balls are no where in sight. I like the tape, but once again, it's Rhode Island football.

What I liked was the ball placement on a lot of those throws, especially some of the deeper ones where Francis was on the move and couldn't plant his feet and square up. The receivers didn't have to reach back a lot, and it looks like they had good chances for YAC and were not exposed for big hits. But regardless of whether there was a DB in sight, we're at the point where just having a guy who can consistently hit a guy on a deep ball is crucial. I am not sure that skill can be taught easily, or else we wouldn't see Nassib's problems with just hitting guys when there is no DB in sight.

The issue is that if that is our future O then why in the are we not running it now? This kid is no burner. Doesn't seem all that good of a runner. So why can't we run this O now? IMO it would help the passing attack and having Nassib run a few zone reads a game is do able.

yeah - sounds like the kid isn't a commit, but is interested in Syracuse (because it's a smaller school where he can get early playing time)

sounds like much ado about nothing :noidea:

lol he's not even committed? This thread is hilarious.
