Antoine Deslauriers

Quebec’s college team. (Bergeron before as well)

I have trouble getting excited about any player. I'm assuming AD plays for another team next year.
If you compare SU to other schools over the last couple years, we have done much better in keeping players than others. I'm worried our years of losing has made you very cynical.

All I kept hearing before the season was that Antoine Deslauriers would struggle in coverage, but he’s been the opposite. As a true freshman, he already looks like a three-down linebacker who can handle both the run and the pass. He diagnoses plays fast, attacks the run game aggressively, and gets to his spots with confidence. He and Samuel’s Jr. are quickly becoming the pillars of this defense for years to come. Deslauriers has the instincts, toughness, and leadership to eventually be the green-dot linebacker, and it’s clear Syracuse has found a cornerstone player in the middle of the defense.

There’s a reason that Notre Dame really wanted this kid. Add Samuals and Tremble and you have three potential all ACC players.

If you build it, they will come….and stay!
The thing about the players who left is that most of them never really had a strong relationship with Fran. The guys on the current roster are different—they’re Fran’s guys. He knows them, trusts them, and has built that connection over time. That familiarity makes a big difference because these are players who are more likely to stay, buy into his system, and follow his lead.
