Any buzz locally for this game?

man you'd be amazed at how right you are with this from some of the thousands of patients we have going through this place over the years, a bunch more recently. STILL hear it from now more old timers who left and are too stupidly proud (IMHO) to forgive and forget to let by gones be bye gones and start supporting.

As for local buzzzz, absolutely none. To quote one fan (older not going but watches) it's like learned helplessness (look it up young ins) or the definition of insanity this year once angeli went down and to expect anything other than more of the same from Collins. If that happens and Fran doesn't make a change we'll be down to ridiculously small attendance numbers once we get past this weekends artificial homecoming bump.
1) SU is on their second Chancellor and 3rd AD post Shaw. Anyone who’s still upset by that off-the-cuff comment is an idiot and using it as rationale to justify behavior they’d be exhibiting anyway.

2) People can do what they want. I do think it’s unfortunate that folks don’t appreciate that they have just one of 65 power 4 programs in the country playing in their town. Tailgating is fun. Football games are fun. Winning is the best but as I get older I realize it’s the experience that matters most. Wish more folks got that.

Maybe they’ll know what they had when it’s gone. That’s a distinct possibility give the CFB landscape.

I’m more pessimistic than normal about this game, but once the alcohol starts kicking in I’m sure that will change.

Also, Pitt is like a piece of toast with nothing on it.
so Pitt is only good for soaking up last night's booze?

I dunno, I sat in a nearly empty Dome throughout the GROB years, and I've definitely gotten older, and I can't quite remember much of the games or experience of it as "fun".

I get what you mean obviously the cherry on top is the winning, but the experience should hold a lot of value as well. Good things tend to happen for programs more often than not that take as much value in the experience of going to games, experiencing game day, and following the sport. As you basically allude to we have a long way to go, but part of the culture rebuild Fran talks about I’m sure extends to building sustainable unconditional support for the program. Winning is the easiest way to get there, but fans also need to remain engaged in the good times and bad times. I think we have the right coach that a little extra push right now will lead to a very good run of good times. But who am I to say, they got me in years ago, I can’t relate too much to the very casual fair weather fan, I’m not sure what else it would take for someone to be unconditionally engaged in the program one way or another other than winning.

I totally get that winning is the thing, ultimately. And I don’t begrudge anyone for not having any interest in attending the kind of losing we suffered during the GRob years (powdersmack).

I’m mostly speaking about the people cuseregular mentioned. Folks who claim that a comment from a dead Chancellor made almost 25 years ago is reason to stay away. That’s dumb as schlit. And those people will certainly complain if the days comes when we’re not in a power conference and we’re permanently on the periphery of the sport.

Some people just enjoy being miserable about things. Too many, these days.

no. what was dumb was making that insulting comment and never apologizing to the fans who support this program. GET A LIFE will be forever linked to Buzz Shaw. and a lesson to all who fail to think about the long term consequences (25yrs) before opening their mouths.

This is why the 7:30 kick is so important. Nobody cares about the burn marks when they're on their 4th Blue.
Update: Actually I did not burn them.
