Anybody feeling good about the Colgate game next week?

Colgate is going to be very telling. I'm a big fan of Red and expect him to get his head out of his arse and coach the team up next week. If we have a repeat of Leymoyne we can pretty much forget this year. Huge game hopefully Red responds

Yeah, and Florida State was pre-season top 5 in the country in football. Those " picked to finish" rankings are always super accurate.
And how about the whole “lowest ranked conference”? Even if the were picked first they’re hardly the level of team that should give any ACC team trouble. Look at what every other league team did in their openers, all against better teams than Lemoyne.

Here's the problem... how do you know those teams are better than Lemoyne? Colgate isn't Colgate any more. You're too caught up in tradition. It's a different world.. Having said that, I'm as frustrated as anyone with our abysmal defensive performance.

One good thing about Colgate is that they have traditional size at center.

We won't be trying to get cute playing Freeman or Davis at center against their two 7' guys. I have been kind of repetitive about my dislike of Red leaving McLeod on the bench.

I think both McLeod and especially Lampkin will be more comfortable banging against a guy of equal size instead of chasing a stretch PF on the perimeter.

We are going to open around 13 point favourites (give a point or so).
I have a feeling many here will not be that optimistic about that one.
Im thinking more like 5-6 points

Colgate is young and not that good. We should win by 20+ but you know us.

They can only beat us by knocking down 3s. Hopefully, we are working in practice to defend the 3, communicating to know when to fight through picks and screens or to switch. If we defend the 3 well, we will win.

No. I am not feeling good about Colgate. If we can't defend the three and score from deep, I do not like it at all.

It's hard not to be excited about a rivalry week game. We have a fighting chance against NY's college team. I know, I know, I'm being a little disrespectful to West Point) but I call 'em like I see 'em. I know it's early in the season but this is our Super Bowl and I really expect the boys to bring 110% and pull the upset against a bona fide NCAA tournament regular.

LMFAOOOOOOOOO

10/10, no notes.

Their coach is smart, he'll go small in a heartbeat. Simple to break that last game down.

Maybe... It's tough to keep your 7' 265lb senior center on the bench even if you think you have a nice matchup. Woodward went for 17,9 and 6 their first game, and didn't miss a shot from the field.

Also, getting cute with lineups sometime causes problems as normal lineups aren't being used. Player comfort matters.

Lastly, the Colgate coach also has video of Lampkin and Davis killing the small lineup the last ten minutes of the game. Lemoyne didn't have a choice, their biggest guy was out there. Colgate has a couple big guys that can push back.

I sincerely hope Red also learned the lessons.

Well, there’s the fact that Lemoyne lost to U C Northridge by 22 on their home court. And Northridge is no world beater.

A couple of thoughts.

We have depth. Use it. Pressure them full court, from the jump. Don't stop until we are up by 20. Rotate guys every 5 minutes. Seriously full court pressure. NOT press. Be on ball from baseline to baseline and watch the results. If I'm coaching and I have an advantage with depth and athleticism I would push the issue. Forget the half court BS go all in on pressure and control the tempo.

I always think it amusing when people blame coaching for lack of scoring. Autry cannot make a 3 for anyone on the court. So taking his head out of his arse isn’t the problem.

The entire team shot 4 – 22 from downtown that’s 18%, and you want to blame that on coach?

IMO, the team had an off night in all areas - FT’s 20 – 31 64%, FG 31-72 43%! That sucks, but there are nights when it happens, and lots blame the coach and I think that defies logic.

I can't say how disappointed I was with our game against LeMoyne. It was just a disaster. But I am not going to say if it isn't any better in game 2 that the season is over. I once played with a kid that said things like that and we all hated him for it. Teams get better and teams get worse. If that is who we are in game 2, I will be even more disappointed than I was against LeMoyne. But I won't write the entire season off because of it. Nor will I jump for joy if we destroyed them.

Rip Cazenovia College.
I’m an old local (Chittenango) in the 70s Caz was an all girls school for rich bad girls that parents wanted isolated ina small small town. Drinking age was 18 and we used to climb in ground floor windows . Those were the days. My friend dated a gorgeous smart Student there from a rich family .. she had been into heroin and groupied with the Rod Faces band when here .

No, dasher, see, the way it works is every single game is a referendum on how the rest of the season will go, and it's perfectly predictable.

If we feel like it, it may even be a referendum on the state and future state of the program generally.
