Anyone else having a hard time getting into this?

I'll admit that winning cures a lot of this, but as of now, I am kind of forcing myself to pay attention to these games. Having access on my phone makes it easier to multitask, thank goodness, because otherwise I'd probably just check the scores later. I don't have any connection to any of these players. JJ is the only one I find "relatable" and he is so up and down. Bell with his baggage feels like he should have moved on with last year's group. Everyone else is a "who?"

And, the kicker, my son last night asks me, "Dad was Syracuse ever any good?" He's 10 years old. He wasn't even born when the cuse had their last pretty good team.
The last few years I used to watch to see how bad JB could mess things up, whether it was stubbornly refusing to play Kadary or Jessie in 20-21 or stubbornly staying in zone as we get bombed from 3 it was more of a chore.

My expectations have dropped soon much I'm just happy they were competitive last night, sad.

Things break right maybe they can match last year's win total.

Some day it will get better, just not sure when...

So I agree with you. I don't really care as much about a connection to the players, it's just been hard with the team so average after all those great seasons we were accustomed to. That said, last night felt like how it used to be with the crowd into it, NYC game, going on a big run, timeout other team, etc. First time I remember feeling that way in a while (when was the last time we won a game in NYC btw?).
I think we got one over Richmond in 22, I believe. But it's been a dessert for wins in NYC/Holiday tourneys lately.

We got embarrassed in 19 at Barclays and Atlantis in 21. Maui wasn't great last year. That needs to change.

...

You know the question.

I WAS having a hard time getting into it. So many new faces. Concerned about being able to compete.

But after the Texas game, I’m in. I don’t know how somebody comes out of that game discouraged.

It’s almost the way people talked today about Syracuse basketball you knew who really watched and didn’t watch last night.

I never have a hard time getting into this. Of course I have been a die hard for five decades, so there is that.

Kadary played plenty. At Seton Hall, he barely played more as a Sophomore. And Seton Hall wasn’t a very good team either. To say Boeheim stubbornly refused to play him is a retelling of history.

Can't root against Dry Rub, Mr Energy.

Guy wasn’t in shape

I am into it and always will be. I root for my team. Hoping for better results but I will not stop being a fan.

But why do I keep reading this board. So many of you are just miserable. It is a game. Enjoy it or get a life elsewhere.

It’s when you know it is very unlikely they will make the tournament. Therefore, the games all just seem to blend in.

It’s not just a game anymore. I invest in season tickets. Football. Basketball. I drive a couple hours to and from Cuse to go to multiple games. Donate.

We are “no longer just fans.” We play an important role in the university and product now.

Being disappointed and somewhat apathetic about Syracuse basketball has been the norm for me for a large part of the past decade.

Something’s gotta change. We’ve been in this state of mediocrity for far too long. The program is a shell of what it used to be.

There have been some glimpses of life under Red, but it’s starting to feel like those glimpses will fall short of a complete revival.

Something has to change. We’re a program without a system. Without any identity. Red has to find his coaching identity and do it very quickly.

A little bit I guess.

Main difference is, usually at this time of year I'm excited for basketball to start and football to go. This year I'd rather it stay football longer.

It's like getting out of a warm car into the cold air, you'd rather stay a moment longer than you have to.

Yeah, to have a brand as big as SUMBB be as bad as it’s been for the last decade is inexcusable.

And I don’t think people know how far this program is behind in the smallest of things in this day and age. It all matters with tickets and donations and everything and it’s tough that people don’t realize how much money SU actually needs to be in the top echelon of programs with necessities. You need a fortune to compete now. But it always seems like we are always behind compared to everyone else

Why is the “truth” being kept a secret then? Who benefits from lack of info?

Honestly I barely even watch anymore it's hard getting involved in college basketball when players leave every year and it's a new starting 5 almost every year. Also add the program sucks rn and it's not worth me losing my marbles at the TV or in the dome rn.
