anyone seen the women play?

Despite losing almost every player that played meaningful minutes last year, they play the same maniacal full court press at all times, shoot as quickly as possible style that Q has developed over the past few years.

Overall, I would say they are not as good offensively but better defensively so far.

Q got a JUCO transfer from Australia to play PG named Tiana Mangakahia. She is leading the country in assists per game with 11.8. Amazing passer and ball handler. Also is a very proficient scorer at 15.1 ppg. It is worth going to the games if only to see her play. She is only a sophomore.

They got a transfer from St Bonaventure named Miranda Drummond who is a wing player. She is a big surprise. Only averaged 8 ppg for the Bonnies but is averaging 18.1 ppg, is the best outsider shooter on the team (34.0% from 3) and the second best rebounder on the team with 7.6 rpg. She is a junior. Excellent pickup. I believe she starts at SF.

Gabby Cooper is the one returnee. She played a lot last year as a frosh and is an outsider shooting specialist. Still struggling some with her shooting, she is 32.1% from 3 this year and averages 9.1 ppg. I believe she starts at SG.

The top backup guard is Isis Young, who averages 8.9 ppg. She is a junior transfer from Florida. Struggling shooting so far.

The fourth guard is named Raven Fox. She can play SF as well. Averages 5.9 ppg and 4.1 rpg. She is also a junior and also a JUCO transfer.

The fifth guard is senior Jasmine Nwajei, a transfer from Wagner, who led the nation is scoring in 2015-16.

The two bigs are both frosh: Digna Stautmane is from Latvia. 6'2. Strong, good shot blocker. I believe she starts at PF and fills in at center. She is averaging 7.9 ppg and is the best rebounder on the team at 8.0 rpg. Going to be very good down the road.

The starting center is another frosh, 6'4 Amaya Finklea-Guity. She is a 5 star recruit from Massachusetts. She is averaging 6.1 ppg and 4.1 rpg.

Desiree Elmore is a soph SG out of Connecticut who was a 5 star recruit. Had a disappointing frosh season, was not in great shape, had a great off season but I think she is injured and hasn't played yet. If she can get healthy, she has a chance to get a lot of PT and be a big part of the team.

I did. Watched them last night and did a write up on the women's sports board. They should be getting more support especially from the students. I saw 3 students sitting in the student section. Fun team and the best value on the planet - last night tickets were only $1.

thankyou for the comprehensive summary will definitely go see them.

it seems to me that the post standard gets them pretty good coverage. does the daily orange??? just asking
at rutgers, the mens coach went door to door at frats etc. to get support for t the team. should q and some of the mens players think about hyping the womens team on campus?
anyway, i will catch a game or 2 this year

Tiana is the female Steve Nash. So fun to watch play. Her and Drummond remind me of Nash and Stoudemire from Phoenix days.

The DO does a very good job of covering all the Womens' and Olympic sports. And as someone else posted you can watch their games on the ACCnetwork. Almost all the games have been streamed so far.

And I'm going to make a plug for the Volleyball team who is playing their first postseason. Didn't make the NCAA tourney but are playing in the NIVC, like the NIT for BB. Will play WVU Monday in the round of 8.

As Tom says, SU's Australian guard is crazy good. She's a fountain of energy -- driving, dishing and scoring -- and makes everyone around her better. If our outside shots start falling, we will be a team to be reckoned with towards the end of the season.

Saw them play live in DC. Tiana is fantastic. Drummond is playing great too. Elmore apparently has concussion issues, so not sure when she will be back. They aren’t shooting very efficiently and don’t have a lot of depth or experience inside, but with the PG they can be in most games. Very exciting team!
