Is that the Missouri Tigers that Emily has 12th when everyone else has them much lower? No love from Emily
So much for objective professionalism.

Emily just when we thought you were becoming a fan.In the grand scheme no one
But to get no love from the hometown reporter sucks
It’s easier to recruit well and potentially end up in a conference title game if you can be mentioned on ESPN every day. Ranked teams get mentioned.Could care less what we are ranked - I just want a record that gets us in the ACC title - that probably means running the table
Does anyone here really think we should be top 25 right now? I wouldn’t vote for us to be in the top 25 either just yet. Can’t take shots on Emily if she is just voting like you. While we beat a solid UNLV team that apparently isnt giving us too much cache unfortunately.Emily just when we thought you were becoming a fan.
Not gonna happen. SMU has a cake walk, Miami keeps winning games they should lose, Clemson won’t lose again, Virginia and Pitt are better than expected, Louisville is strong.Could care less what we are ranked - I just want a record that gets us in the ACC title - that probably means running the table
Not a top 25 team. Top 25 offense, but not an overall good team. We should root for improvement through the year and 8-9 wins.Does anyone here really think we should be top 25 right now? Doubtful. Prob 3 winsI’ll take it. Lets win the next two and we will be in top 20
If wins at NCState and ranked Pitt occurs, we will be top 25. But Pitt will be very difficult. Seems SU has not been good after a bye, also Pitt has had SU number (not counting last year)Doubtful. Prob 3 wins
Colleges with the most players on NFL opening night rosters
Here are the college football teams with the most active NFL players on opening day.www.ncaa.com
149 players from Bama, Georgia or LSU. Add in Florida and it's 184, more than the entire Pac 12 (this is as of 2023).
They got more than half their players in the league from four schools.
Top heavy conference.
Nearly half the Big Ten comes from three schools: Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State.
120 players.
I'd say it comes down to haves versus have nots.
Those conferences are top heavy because their top teams have disproportionate number of NFL players.
ACC and Big 12 are much more balanced, which leads to more parity and a lack of elite level teams.
This perception is born that SEC and Big 10 are super when it's a handful of teams leading the way.
If we are fortunate enough to keep winning the only thing that has to happen is Either Clemson or SMU loses one. That’s it. (I understand it’s a long shot, so no need to say “let it go“) But what Pitt, Virginia or (most likely) Louisville does has nothing to do with us if we win out.Not gonna happen. SMU has a cake walk, Miami keeps winning games they should lose, Clemson won’t lose again, Virginia and Pitt are better than expected, Louisville is strong.
Just let it go.
Sagarin is a garbage ranking, including their SOS! ( including the 3 losses to us), I believe our 4 FCS opponents are 13-8. (12- 5 not including playing us). 2 were ranked. Still has things like “luck”, last years games , etc in the formula. Don’t waste your time with that Info.Current Sagarin. We don't play the Top 4 in the ACC, and only one team on our schedule is currently Top 34. Our best OOC is #39. That Stanford loss hurts. Our SOS thus far is 94th.
We are exactly in the middle of the ACC (9th). So step one get into the Top half of the ACC. Step two get ahead of the Top FCS. Step three get to 5th in the ACC (25% teams above and 75% below). Step four get to 2nd in the Northeast. I think all of those are possible and realistic goals.

People keep saying this. Played well vs Louisville, hard vs us. They are solid.GT has been proven to be a fraud though. A win over an abysmal FSU team carries 0 weight
If we played 16 through 25 I think we would be 5-5 or so. #25 SMU scares me the most of them all, so whether we “should be” or “could be”, we are as deserving as any of them, and they should feel the same way.Does anyone here really think we should be top 25 right now? I wouldn’t vote for us to be in the top 25 either just yet. Can’t take shots on Emily if she is just voting like you. They keep saying it because it’s true. ”close” losses (which is being generous for them against Louisville) and a dollar buys you a cup of coffeePeople keep saying this. Played well vs Louisville, hard vs us. They are solid.
Seems a little odd to not have TA&M ranked last week but then give both themselves and Missouri the benefit of Texas A&M having been ranked…. Like they weren’t good enough to warrant a ranking but because other people ranked them it must mean the Missouri loss wasn’t that bad but also the win was so good that they are now ranked in the top 10…Emily’s thoughts on how she ranked teams for this week:
“Here are a few general notes:
Ballot newcomers: Texas A&M (No. 7 my ballot/15 official), BYU (No. 11/14), Vandy (No. 18/UR), Arkansas (No. 19/UR), SMU (No. 23/25), Washington (No. 24/UR)
- I vaulted Texas A&M into the Top 10 at No. 7 despite not having them even ranked previously (they were No. 25 officially). Why? They whooped Mizzou, who I'd had at No. 8 last week, and are currently top of the SEC at 5-1 (3-0). Figured it was finally time to give the Aggies their due. They rose 10 spots overall and sit at No. 15. I dropped Mizzou to No. 12 – bad loss, but it was against a ranked opponent on the road – and they fell to No. 21 overall.
- BYU, Indiana and Iowa State were also big risers, coming in at No. 11, No. 13 and No. 14 and leapfrogging Clemson, Notre Dame and LSU. Those latter three are just kind of teams sitting in the middle right now stuck in goo with single losses. The former three are all undefeated.
- Yes, I put in the upsetters. I included Vanderbilt, Arkansas, SMU and Washington for their underdog wins. I am sure I will drop at least one of them right back out next week, but I felt like credit was due there for their efforts. I was genuinely surprised not a single one made the official poll.
Ballot bye-byes: Louisville, Kansas State (No. 18 official), UNLV, Oklahoma State, Arizona
Considered in no specific order: Texas Tech, Syracuse, Army, Illinois (No. 23 official), Pittsburgh (No. 22 official), Nebraska”
