Aquille Carr

I find this entire thread very entertaining, I even had to grab some beers...But in all honesty I think the kid has talent, but do not think he would fit in our system, height and reach is a liability, maybe he has an Anthony Davis type growth spurt and grows to 6-4 or something...who knows?

Three things

1. Is this legal? "Seton Hall senior point guard Jordan Theodore Tweeted to Carr, “S/o to the new member of the Pirates @CantGuard3. Welcome aboard boy!”

I have no idea, but my guess is that there may be something there...:noidea:

well said !! thx orange fog !!
Kurt, thank you for your support of my post, but I have to agree with others that questioned your first post in this thread pretty much attacking Dan's original post and opinion. You will find nobody more respected on this board than Dan and I am quite certain he is entitled to his opinion and due more respect than you showed in your post and if you re-read it, you may be able to admit it was a bit biting.

Dude no one is attacking anyone so slow down !! i may be new this but i have been a cuse fan since 86 , i know the game very well , my knowledge & skills are not far apart , i was expressing my opinion .

Wow, since 1986 huh? Dan has neckties older than you.

3. Does he mind being called boy?

Funny part about that is Carr is already 18 years old. He'll be 19 playing as a senior in HS and 20 by the time he's a college freshmen.

If that comment came from anyone other than Theodore, who's 23 without having redshirted, it would be absolute comedy.

Why does K.A. remind me so much of conversations that have ensued with Pittsburgh fans? (Remind you of the pitt board seattle cuse? lol) Maybe the bandwagoneers are hopping off looking for a new ride? Carr fits in with the Hall perfectly... Barrett, Theodore, Carr.. quick, feisty.. and good at leading the NIT in scoring/assists. Best go get your SHU jersey now Kurt Alert. Your failure to acknowledge the immediate disrespect of OE sewed your oats.

In defense of Pitt fans, they do have a better grasp on the English language.

I love it when everybody comes together (sometimes for a change) ... as I said initially a loooong time ago on this thread. KA was rude and disrespectful to OE. Ain't gonna happen on this Board. If he has accepted a schollie to SHU then I feel that is where he belongs. He fits their style of play and player much better. Despite everything AC said I doubt that there was much interest from Calapari or any of the other schools. He is 17 right now ... next year 18? His growth spurts are over ... He will be, maybe, 5'7" going to SHU. Too small for the zone ... as I have said before.

Eh, I wouldn't have minded the kid. What we are witnessing this year is a potential 4-guard rotation where each gets about 20 minutes each. If JB, or especially Hop one day, decided that all this extra depth could become the rule, as opposed to the exception, then we might gradually crank up the press. If Carr's minutes were utilized as an offensive sparkplug, and coincided with press defense, I think the benefits of what he could bring would outweigh the ten-fifteen minutes a game in which he could be a zone liability. This of course is not to say that this would happen, and I am perfectly happy seeing us continue to chase down MCW and Dion-like guards, but I don't think we should just completely block out the idea if the situation were right.

Wow! Squirt Alert wins the Troll du jour award. Bursts into the forum guns drawn and starts shooting indiscriminately. The rudeness was only surpassed by the entertainment value. Anyone who is truly a student of the Syracuse Zone would recognize how a 5'6" guard, regardless of speed and scoring prowess would be problematic within the milieu of the Syracuse Zone.

James Arthur Boeheim is a visionary when it comes to zone defense. There is no other zone like the Syracuse zone when it is manned with the prototypical athletes prefered by Jimmy B. The current renaissance in recruiting by Syracuse illustrates just what types of guards are prefered by Coach to best implement his Syracuse Jimmy B. Active Zone.

It should also be noted that Flynns recruitment was to some degree resultant from the pursuit of Paul Harris and that Syracuse, having it's druthers, would not be likely to pursue a guard as small as Flynn for the exact reasons so articulately enumerated in previous posts contained in this thread. If you look at Brandon, MCW, and to a lesser degree Scoop, you can see the type of player that best exemplifies the stature and inherent abilities sought after by Syracuse.

Finally, Kurt would be best suited to spend some time on a remedial English website so as to aid in his ability to convey his thoughts in a more cohesive manner. He might want to begin with looking up homonyms such as "There & Their". I know it sounds picky but Yowza! such subtleties actually do aid in the effort to promote one's point of view.

not always true.. i was 5'6" at 17... 6'1" now... very rare though.

Wow dowd that is really rare ... 17 yo is not exactly a growth spurt period.

5'10" to 6'1" after 18 for me.
Hey Musky .. that's 3" to Dowd's 7" ... and it is amazing b/c growth spurts just don't happen that old as a developmental rule. All I can say is, "What happened ... I'm still waiting for my growth spurt " (No unseemly jokes, please)

Well, if you want to be picky, I definitely topped the 7" going sideways.

I didn't stop growing until i was about 20. It was weird. It was frustrating for awhile because every male in my family is 6' and up.

Its aright KA we all have our bad posts. This is a free board afterall.

Strange enough his post game me a intersting thought.
How often do we see guys like Dion, Triche, Rautins and our guards score on a cut to the basket. Against the 2-3 that isn't happening so having a smaller guy is a advantage in that reguards. :D

I wouldn't mind a smaller GUARD defender as long as he can play some extended tight defense and JB knows he can. I would also venture a guess that could push the opposition to quick shots from their point guards giving us more possessions and fast breaks as well. :noidea:

If your knowledge and skills are not far apart I guess we all should apologize for attacking someone in a wheelchair.
