I always had this feeling that they weren't the best of friends. I hope I'm wrong because, despite what some say, I think you do need to have a decent relationship to play well together

From what I hear...yes.

I am willing to bet Scoop has a new attitude this season. I bet he learned alot from these camps. Him and Triche were practicing with Chris Paul together. Nothing everyone didn't already know.

I would really like to see Scoop, Brandon and Dion all work well together out there this year. It was certainly an issue at times last year.

I am hoping that MCW is good enough to force these guys into playing the way the coaches want them to. Always nice to have someone else on the bench who is good enough to let you sit down guys who are not following instructuions.

The rumor had it that Dion and BT were not great buddies ... and at times it was evident on the floor when they were both playing. I didn't realize that there were issues between BT and Scoop tho ... they always seemed to work together pretty well. Scoop always seems(ed) to reference BT in a most positive way. Hmmm...in any case "GET OVER IT"!! Time to grow up and play like teammates. MCW is on your butts waiting to take the spot and/or pt of anyone who doesn't want to play team ball.

After I wrote the above I began to think (a very dangerous thing indeed). This year almost more than any other that I can remember this team has the potential to be very special ... very special indeed. But Scoop and KJo must take the lead ... this is their last opportunity to have a special season. To me, as the Seniors they must try to ensure that every one of the players show their absolute potential. Dissension on a team can be more destructive than not having any of the talent that this team possesses. IMO Scoop and KJo need to be more than models for their their team. They must take the lead in showing these kids how to play and win as a team; to shut off any dissension; to play team ball and not "me" ball. None of these kids know what it feels like to have an NC within reach. Ask Melo; ask GMac; ask Warrick; ask any members of that 2003 group of "overachievers". They will tell you what it feels like to win a NC; they will tell you to win it all you have to play as a team. It's time to put your big boy pants on guys. Get over yourselves and your petty grievances and feuds. Be special.

They don't have to be buddies...in any group of 12 guys, some are always going to get along better with some than with others.

They only need a good working relationship on the court

Not everyone on the 2003 team was bosom buddies with everyone else

I think often times what passes for "buddies" or "getting along" is a team fitting well together. The biggest hurdle for this group, IMO, is figuring out how this all works and making sure there are some folks willing to play a role and not be the star, per se. That has a lot to do with senior leadership and certainly friendly relationships off the court don't hurt, but ultimately these guys have to play off each other and put the team first: KJ being aggressive and attacking offensively, scoop willing to trust his teammates in crunch time, BT adding a measure of consistency to his game, Dion filling the role of instant offense off the bench, etc. Understanding who does what the best is important.
