Just interested if there is anybody left in his corner? Not sure if this would work better being an anonymous poll or not, but all the 1 more year for Shafer's please stand up.

I'm not interested in the i'm ok either way crowd. I want to know if there are anymore 100% Shafer is the answer people?

This is where things suck. I really like Shafer and his love for all things Cuse. But I must admit how easy it is to get all caught up in the buzz of some potential new coach. In the end, though, it will be a sad day if/when Shafer gets fired because 1) Shafer is a great guy and 2) it means we suck again.

Coaching is a tough business though. Every time a coach gets hired, he has an expiration date. The bitch of it is...is that they never know what that date is.

Shafer is a meathead at times and I don't like the frequent unsportsmanlike penalties, but the health of a program is measured by the young talent. Look how much is returning for 2016.
With our QB situation, were you expecting a win today?

I'm not calling for another year but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he is back next year.

I am but I'm still waiting on the BC game, and the renovations announcement before I make a final decision

I lasted until the Pitt game. I was livid after the Virginia loss, but it wasn't until repeating the same pre-halftime crap against Pitt that I fully turned. The Louisville late game stuff costing us Dungey put it way over the edge. Too many bad decisions make me think that even as we get better in the coming years with our young talent developing, I feel like we'll keep leaving W's on the field and "could be 8-4's" become 6-6's.

The one blessing of the Gerg era is that we all have a good idea of what a coach looks like when he's in over his head. There's little second-guessing on that front after getting a 4-year long up close and personal look of it.

Will we actually get W's though? There's young talent, but how many teams are we going to "out-talent" in the coming few years? A few non-conference teams and Wake Forest? Maybe a BC or NC State when they are in a down year?

Coaching matters more than anything for a program like us, and there's been a lot of things that have happened this year that make me think this guy just doesn't have it.

I get the point about in-game coaching, but SU was an underdog (a TD or more) in every single game beginning with USF. Why? Basically, because of the QB situation & the young defense. Proof that recruiting matters -- our best players are Dungey, Fredericks, Erv, Ishmael, Thompson, Bennett, Franklin, Clark, Slayton.

This question might sound snarky and it isn't meant to be, but what does the renovations have to do with the product on the field or whether SS should be brought back? If we do get renovations we should bring him back? Or if we don't get them, then its ok to bring him back? I don't understand what 1 has to do with the other.

if were playing 12 away next year are we really going to pay for good coach at market rate?

Love the guy but we need a change. I don't think he will last the week.
according to a poster on the forbidden sites name he was told earlier this week his fate

YES!

Playing 12 away games doesn't mean you give up on a season, let a bad coach stay and hurt the program even more

I do think coaches are often fired too early. You need to see what direction the program is going and you also need to see where other programs are going. Our team is young and has some potential to improve, but the other teams in the division are improving too. NC state, louisville are getting better. We don't want to be one of the bottom 3 teams in our division forever with BC and WF.

I don't know. The team has not been prepared to play against mediocre opponents on the road. That has been most frustrating

If Shafer is committed to this program, he's gotta make some changes on the staff.

Your not being Snarky at all and it's a good question. My feeling is this, if every game is on the road next year I think it will be very difficult for a new coach to win. I would rather have a new coach with the new renovations to excite the fan base.
