Are there any Pro-Shafer's left?

The bottom line is this: Next year is a throwaway year...No Dome games......it would have been empty anyway after this current years record. The thinking may be to keep Shafer and fire him after another 3-9 season on the road.....a 2 year extension with a very cheap buyout. But I do not think this will happen. His negatives outweigh his positives and Coyle wants his hire sooner than later. I wonder if Coyle has a multi-year contract? and for how many years.

Well you see this is the problem, most fans will not give him a free pass. I will probably get blasted, but in my opinion the Syracuse fan base is one of the worst in the nation.
a) Any first year coach would get a free pass if he has 11 games on the road b) SU's fan base is no different than any other fan base in the country. Heck, LSU fans are calling for Les Miles to be let go. Guy only wins 9 or 10 games every year and goes to a major bowl. Miami's fan base have been flying banners over the stadium voicing their displeasure for years to get Golden fired till it finally happened.

SU fans have sat through 10-15 years of utter garbage, the fact SU still has a loyal die-hard following the size it does goes to show how the SU fans aren't bad.

I also have to think that all the negative voices post literally 5-10x as much by nature. I desperately hope they keep this coach, this could be a coach like coach Mac, frank Beamer. One who will truly care but it will take time. I mean can we think about character. This is not a greg Robinson scenario in no way, shape or form. It has to be a program builder and I think people, recruits, parents will get behind him. It is going to take time. I also believe that we have as high, or higher a ceiling as Duke. They had to ride it out and create depth, I mean come on people. It amazes me that more people do not see this nor realize what they have in this man.

They might see a guy that in his first game whipped his visor 20 yds and threw his headset, cursed out the opposing coach in a huge national game a couple of weeks later and in his last two games had to be restrained and got a bench unsportsman like penalty two weeks in a row.

Just reread my post if you like. Mirror, mirror on the wall.

And by the way Marrone in my opinion was much more thin skinned than you think. Hard to get attacked. I stand firm. I do not need to be coddled.

I'm in the give him his last year camp. It's the first year of this offensive system and it's had a true freshman or walk on running it with nearly all of the most productive skill guys being freshman and sophomores. The defense has a load of young guys on the two deep too. I would like to see a position coach change or two, however.

Time is good for a HC who actually shows something other than cursing out the opposing coach. Intelligent decision-making during games. We don't see that. Progress made by young players. We don't see that. Consistently outscheming the opposition. We don't see that.

It's not even about the wins and losses. You want to see a semblance of progress in Year #3 and you'd have to be delusional to think it's there.

You don't need six years to realize a guy is over his head. What makes you think Shafer is suddenly going to become intelligent? You either have it or you don't.

if were playing 12 away next year are we really going to pay for good coach at market rate?
At the Clemson game there were tables set up and they were hawking season tickets for next year. I asked them if it was hard selling season tickets as they won't be playing in the dome next year due to renovations. They assured me all home games will be in the dome. What do they know that we don't?

What did you ever "know" about all home games being moved? It was always heresay.

They know that rolling out a conceptual plan for Dome renovation is only a first step. Is there a big lead gift? Is there a NYS grant? So many steps between concept and ground-breaking.

I was going by what I heard here and wanted to get the scoop that's all. I wasn't assuming everyone was a gossiper. Aren't there some in the know here? It seems there are or they claim to and I was going by that.

Problem is that a couple people will make assumptions and the entire board will run with it. After a month it's spoken of as fact.

Nothing definitive has been published on the project in general, nor the timeframe.

I understand that, I just went to the horses mouth that's all. I have been a season ticket holder for the better part of 52 years. If all the games are on the road, I want to know and decide if I am buying tickets for next year.

The timeframe at this point is pretty tight without any announcement. I'd have to imagine there'd be a window to be refunded if that were to come to fruition. Hard for me to believe if a season is affected, that it's 2016. There's a lot that needs to happen for that to be the case.

They seemed to think it would start at the end of the basketball season. I do agree it seems pretty soon though.

He was the right decision in 2013 he's the wrong decision to keep in 2016. I've seen enough. It's his first gig and he's becoming more unhinged.
Yes he is starting to show the same pathology that he exhibited at Michigan under Rich Rod.

Why are people posting about next year being the one with a Dome closure that causes the team to play entirely on the road?

It's late November, in order for this closure to happen for next football season BUT not disrupt hoops at all (which is the rumor, right?) wouldn't work need to begin pretty much as soon as the last hoops game is played? Wouldn't that mean lacrosse would already be planning it's season out of the Dome? Wouldn't contractors already be hired and preparing for a mid-March start date? Wouldn't word of these things be streaming out? Why would this be a secret?

Seems to me that if a closure is occurring it wouldn't be for the 2016 season.

There is a concert scheduled for April 9.

Oh, so massive construction starts on April 10th but is done by, say, early December? This makes no sense to me.
