Are there any Pro-Shafer's left?

Your not being Snarky at all and it's a good question. My feeling is this, if every game is on the road next year I think it will be very difficult for a new coach to win. I would rather have a new coach with the new renovations to excite the fan base.

I'd give the new coach a 5 or 6 year deal, accounting for a year in the road. A slightly larger grace period.

I would rather have a new coach with a 1 year free pass in year 1, knowing he is in a tough spot and move on from there. Keeping SS having to play 11 road games and then moving on the year after would kill the fanbase even more and hurt this program maybe beyond repair

When DM left for the NFL, I felt it was important to maintain continuity and promate SS to head coach, give him a shot. I was a SS guy. We have been regressing every season to a point that the team this season has become extremely difficult to watch. It has gotten to a point where I would not be opposed to a coaching change, unfortunately. Coyle has a big (and tough) decision to make.

I am not sure I wouldn't mind DM back again even with his ego...

Ditto.
I was totally on the fence until that $h1tshow earlier today. Brutal.

today was no different than most of the games we have lost

Yes, a little over two years ago everyone on this board were kissing his butt, had to replace the whole staff and hold on to a recruiting class. Beat Minnesota in a bowl game, life was good.

Last two years have had to play freshman QB's, that would get any coach fired. He is doing a good job keeping us in these games. Next year is the turn around year, he will be here for a long time.

Well you see this is the problem, most fans will not give him a free pass. I will probably get blasted, but in my opinion the Syracuse fan base is one of the worst in the nation.

As long as the new guy is not making incredibly dumb decisions like attempting field goals from the 1 I think he'll be okay.

I think Shafer could be a successful coach if given more time - but in this day and age when perception is fueled by momentum, I don't think Cuse can let him continue. You don't see coaches given much slack these days. I don't think Shafer should be given much more slack. With that said - unless Cuse is willing to change the circumstances (e.g., increase coaches pay, commit to long-term success, etc.), not much will change with the new coach. In fact, history will prove that the coaches that people are suggesting on this message board doesn't include the one selected.

The problem with that is you need the current HC to play. What if he demanded an extension or else since he knows what he's up against with 12 road games, and the effect being a lame duck HC would have on recruiting?

Just interested if there is anybody left in his corner? Not sure if this would work better being an anonymous poll or not, but all the 1 more year for Shafer's please stand up.

I'm not interested in the i'm ok either way crowd. I want to know if there are anymore 100% Shafer is the answer people?

I also have to think that all the negative voices post literally 5-10x as much by nature. I desperately hope they keep this coach, this could be a coach like coach Mac, frank Beamer. One who will truly care but it will take time. I mean can we think about character. This is not a greg Robinson scenario in no way, shape or form. It has to be a program builder and I think people, recruits, parents will get behind him. It is going to take time. I also believe that we have as high, or higher a ceiling as Duke. They had to ride it out and create depth, I mean come on people. It amazes me that more people do not see this nor realize what they have in this man.

Well you either have to get rid of him or extend him, there is no other scenarios.
