Doesn't Randle have more double doubles than Carmelo did in his tenure. Obviously that isn't a 100% telling stat, but he is a huge reason that they have won the past 3 games.

Wow, Kentucky has six (6) Micky Ds with single digit RSCI on their roster THIS YEAR! We have had two in our HISTORY... Think about that. Cal should win the tournament every year really..

UConn's last McDonalds AA was Alex Oriakhi 2009

Wisconsin has had 1 Mc AA since 2000 Brian Butch 2003

Florida has 4 Mc AA since 2010

Correct and correct.

Really? Better than Jordan, Sampson, Ewing?
As a freshman I think he is, obviously not an overall better player throughout their careers but strictly as a freshman in college I would say yes.

The one thing I'll agree with is the value of ball pressure.

At the college level, quick guards that can get into players full court (think Boatright, Russ Smith) are so valuable because of the turnovers they cause, and how they disrupt offenses. The zone is effective, and does create turnovers, but it's harder to dictate pace/tempo and create havoc. Boatright absolutely dominated the game yesterday on the defensive end - Trice was a deer in headlights.

Carmelo is the best frosh in the history of espn
Kevin Durant: simply a better player, but didn't have title-worthy teammates (not to mention handicapped by Barnes as coach)
Anthony Davis: tremendous impact on the game at both ends - certainly his defensive presence dwarfed anyone else's in CBB that year

We get steals that don't go anywhere (usually), as they are when the other team is already set up on O. Heavy ball pressure teams get steals in the backcourt/before half court and have easy buckets because of it.

Cooney had 3 straight dunks one game. Did he have another the rest of the season?

If Wisconsin or UConn wins the championship, they will join Maryland (2002), as the only teams to win a championship without a McDonald's AA on its roster.

The whole mcdonalds all american thing can be overrated, guys don't make the team because of politics, and other reasons. Ennis didn't make the team last year, Rak was a mcdonalds all american.

Got to disagree with you there man. I am pretty sure he had D.J. Augustin on his team and better talent than Melo did. Melo only had one other NBA player. I know Durant had better stats but NC > 32. I will give you the handicapped by Barnes thing though which is probably why they did not go farther.

But he had a lot of really good players with him, Gmac was a very good college player, people forget how good Edelin was, Duany and Pace were very good at their roles.

Teams can waste clock against ball pressure as well. JB takes the air out of the ball against m2m all the time. And when teams press us because we are up we break it and get baskets all the time.

I agree ball pressure is a good thing though. But you have to have the defenders who are ready for it ennis and cooney weren't recruited for that reason.

I will agree JB doesn't recruit to get defensive studs unless they are solid offensive studs to (mcw, dion). With a exception of guys like Josh pace every so often. So yes he is a offensive coach when it comes to guards.

Kevin Durant now is probably a better player than Melo but both as freshman I think Melo was better and played within boeheims system which helped us win a championship which is most important. If we look at just stats I can say that Michael Beasley was a better freshman than Durant.

It definitely can be Brian. Some guys make the team each year that should not have made it and vice-versa. However, over time it has a pretty darn good correlation with final 4 and championship success. The main point being that players win championships and the more talent a program has, the more likely they are to win one.

I don't disagree with any of that, just making the point that it isn't always the best players that make the team. We have had quite the collection of guys who are highly rated and haven't made the all american team Ennis,Waiters,Harris,Cmac.

Loved our 2002-03 team. But Durant had plenty of talent to play with too. Augustin was a lottery pick and Damion James was a first round pick too. AJ Abrams wasn't drafted but was a good college guard and a top 3 point bomber that could rival GMac in that area.

Somebody, please tell me that CM can score - even if you are lying. Thanks.

Completely different player than D Greene... Chris will be a defensive specialist in the 2-3 who I think will be a terror when it comes to blocking shots and rebounding more efficiently out of the 2-3... Offensively he isn't going to be circled on anyone's scouting report.. If they can get into transition and into the open court he will be unreal.. He runs the floor like a gazelle and should be really hard to guard in the open floor

He's an athletic freak, who from the videos I have seen does have range, but he needs to keep his motor going throughout the game and not get disinterested.
