Why is a southern tier guy being said to be from upstate New York?
Yes, I know where Olean is, having been there numerous times as my wife is also a Bonnie’s alum.

Basically, anything north of the City (or maybe Yonkers) is considered upstate. I grew up in Binghamton, and we were always referred to as upstate.
