Gerry McNamara needs to be the next coach

There is no way that you would support a Siena coach getting the job after two years with an identical record if he was named John Smith. None. At all. Yet none of his supporters are capable of admitting that. Weird.

Not really sure why it’s so friggin’ hard for GMac supporters to own that this is 100% about his Syracuse ties at not in any way, shape, or form about his coaching record. You almost managed to squeeze out something that vaguely resembled an honesty that few Gerry supporters even get close to at the end. All it takes now is admitting his meager record with a tiny bit of success is just enough for Syracuse fans to hang their hat on as a supposed reason - but this is primary and almost entirely about wanting a “Syracuse guy
Are you my freshman roommate? Guy hated everything about Syracuse, never made any sense, and transferred to Georgetown his sophomore year.

Why don’t you put on record who your slam dunk hire is, and if he won’t come here, please explain why.

I find telling nobody will explicitly say they’d support a Siena coach with two years experience that include a 14 win season, a third place finish and a conference tournament win if the coach was named John Smith. Instead it’s all ad hominem attacks on me for pointing out an uncomfortable reality.

I’m not sure why I should bother answering your challenge when you - just like all the other GMac supporters - continue to dodge mine. Is it really that hard to admit this is a little about a thin resume, a lot about a name for GMac supporters?

Gerry showed out in the post season. That’s when SU fans expect Syracuse to shine.
The fact is that Gerry brings good will that no other coach will bring. He will immediately engender a sense of renewal and optimism, coupled with a link to a period of Syracuse excellence. You’ll see a big jump in season tickets. You’ll see immediate excitement.
Should those things be considered in an entertainment business hire? I have no idea.
