As far as the next Head basketball coach

Is The Field of 68 legit? Reporting Hodgsen turned down Cuse.

Nah, there are like 20-30 pages in the "Coach Search Options after Autry" thread (after Post #10,579) that think Goodman made the whole thing up.

Might as well contaminate all the other threads too.

Now I have to put two threads on ignore until we officially hire someone.

"Thinking" is not required, necessary or even desirable. No one is asking Chatgpt to think, and as we all know, other than the few making decisions no one knows the ingredients going into the HC hiring decision, except may be a few insiders and even then the insiders may be intentionally misdirected.

So all Chatgpt is needed for in this case is to plow through the thousands if not more discussions, tweets, podcasts, press releases and what not, and yes probably 80% of those would be mindless wishful thinking opinions. Nonetheless, it is useful to see that perhaps there is a prevailing trend of what most people (who are obviously not in the know) think will happen. Is it definitely what will happen? No. Is it interesting for board gossip, sure why not? We have nothing else going on, no recruit coming, no tournament invites, nothing.
The environment thanks you for taking this shortcut

A very smart poster (me) suggested several months ago the suits on the hill share the same hubris as PSU football and coaches would use this as bait to get an extension.

Im going to post a name for HC that I dont know if he has been mentioned here or not but his name is Takayo Siddle from UNC Wilmington. Wilmington is his first and only HC gig but here is his record

2021–22 UNC Wilmington 27–9 15–3 T–1st CBI Champion
2022–23 UNC Wilmington 24–10 12–6 T–3rd
2023–24 UNC Wilmington 21–10 12–6 T–3rd
2024–25 UNC Wilmington 27–8 14–4 2nd NCAA Division I Round of 64
2025–26 UNC Wilmington 27–6 15–3 1st NIT

Total Coaching record 133–53 (.715)

Not bad. The guy obviously knows how to strategize and make adjustments during games. There are a few midmajor guys who can coach and who may adjust well at the next level.

You promised in another thread that you didn't have any inside info, but you certainly like to imply that you do. Comparing them to PSU in particular is a weirdly specific thing to do.

I don’t have inside info I promise. I think it was fairly public that PSU expected to land a big name of a coach fairly quickly and that multiple candidates used the PSU job to secure an extension at their current school. What did PSU land on? Their 10th candidate, according to the press? As this process has shown, the fans, and certainly the SU athletics administrators on the hill, have a much higher opinion on the attractiveness of the job than the rest of the industry and marketplace. Doesn’t take a top secret super insider to make the parallel between SU hoops and PSU football, two historic programs that have very high opinions of their standing that are both a bit detached from reality

This is true but also they tripped themselves up and fell right into someone who is more than up to the job.

Ironically, that person was from Iowa State, and the Iowa State basketball coach would be a great target. Could be a perfect metaphor!
