Todo por nada....smh *eyeroll*all for naught
Todo por nada....smh *eyeroll*all for naught
It was interesting for me to see what changed when TD came in the game. I know that he initially just handed the ball off, but when he was asked to pass he held the ball quite a bit longer than Welch. That absolutely needs to get better. The oline did him no favors this year, but he didn't help them either.TD has to know the offense and increase the speed. Welch doesn't have his talent but you could see his confidence, command and composure of the offense even though he hasn't played a lot. TD comes in and is looking at the bench over and over again and this is something he has to stop to increase the speed as well as improve his progressions, moving/throwing and pocket presence. The improved OL should help him do this.
Having input and having "major input" are two different things. What head coach would say they have no input into play calling?Dino has said in interviews that he provides his input to play calling as well as his OC or Co-OC.
They have people up in the booth communicating with Dino and Lynch.
Each coach has their own style of being in the booth or not.
I saw a ton of coordinators both D and O on the sideline the last few years. They can coach up the kids after a drive (yes I saw our coaches doing this).
We will never know how much input he has into play calling. Seems like a fair amount. As to why he would need Lynch to call plays I feel it’s best to have a input and ideas from a few people for play calling.Having input and having "major input" are two different things. I've never said Welch had TD's arm. There was more than one called pass play where Devito held the ball longer than Welch had almost all game.the first pass was an absolute dart that Welch couldn’t throw
then he took a sack
just about sums him up at this point in his career
Didn’t Custis occassionally line up in the slotthere are elements that if they can pull it together next year can be really good.
The three returning TB's are capable with a decent line of generating a good run game.
Devito has the arm talent, needs to develop better feel for the game, better protection should help, he was beat up early and it decreased his level of play all year.
Assuming Harris and Jackson comeback, that is a good pair of starting WR's. Need to figure out the slot and maybe it's time to get away from the smurf approach. There are bodies, who will emerge?
TE - best pair of receiving TE's in a long time. Need to keep improving their inline play to help the run game.
OL - four of five spots should be settled. Need to find a ACC caliber guard and develop depth across the line.
They are going to need to be at 35ppg (at least) to have a chance next year.

I commented on how long it took the ball to come out. I made no mention of the quality of any throws. However, I noted TD's better arm in other posts in various threads after the game.you were making a statement on what changed w the QB change, I noticed the ball was thrown well
Great point. If I were a wizard I'm not sure I'd want to risk my status with a shaky DL.For as big a dose of reality that I got this year, I still think our offense will explode next year. Mostly because of the late OL improvement and because Jordan is unleashed. But add in the chip on the shoulder, Tommy improvements, Triston, Taj and the TEs and I just think it’s not going to be what we saw most of this year.
Defense is a real concern. Hopefully we find a wizard at DC, because the DL has depth problems, we’ll be starting LBs with limited experience and I’m concerned about overall play from the safeties. Not sure about corner depth either but do love the starters. Trill and Iffy will be the strength of the D.

Huh? Look at your first reply to me. You were the one that changed the subject. The only thing I commented on was how long it took the ball to come out. You replied by talking about the dart TD threw. Two different things.not sure why you took any of this in the direction you did - I wasn’t disagreeing?
Yes, they did the same at times this year with Jackson.

I apologize if it came across defensive. I was intentionally attempting to avoid any suggestion of a comparison to throwing ability with my comment. The point remains. You're not wrong re: ball coming out longer. I was attempting to add to it but suggesting that when it did, he made a nice couple of throws. And that was kind of how his season has been.
Your response to that was pretty defensive, IMO. But it you didn't intend it to be, fine.
