Friends and family, that's what it will be.
Without a vote of confidence from the administration, and to hear the sniping about Marrone here, no one is going to want the jobs outside "friends and family." Short-termers all around, right?

I'd be thrilled if they added one coach on defense and one on offense. Make one of those two, specials coach...

If you think about it, no reason to add two coaches on the D side of the ball, they were overstaffed on that side coming into the year

You stole my line. :)

Sent from my DROIDX

Agreed, a bunch of meatheads playing grab ass all season. Marrone is digging his grave or saving his bacon at this point but anyone who thinks the defense is the biggest problem is crazy. I wonder if shafer is leading the charge on this one..

You want recruits, roll in the dirt like edsall is and hire larry Johnson sr from Penn st

I don't think there is any way this gets done without Shafer leading the charge...I think Brumbaugh being gone was in the works since last year...hell they hired his replacement LAST YEAR...which is pretty slick if you really think about it

DL coach- Johnson from penn state
LB- tbd

Johnson would be a great hire, but I doubt he gets an interview simply because of what has also transpired on the hill.

I want whoever they hire to have a proven track record as a College ST Coach or a darn good recruiter.

Again, I have to wonder if the type of coach people are dreaming about here won't be interested in the job(s), for a number of reasons.

Expecting them to already have thought of someone in particular when they made these moves. I want them to be right. Feel terrible about Conley. Just sucks. But I guess they have to do what they have to do.

If the news is true then i will be very interested to see who he gets. Does he want more friends and family or ppl who can get the job done.

I don't know who will come in but here is what I think will happen.

1. I don't think this is over. I think Anselmo retires.
2. I hate to see Dan go because he was a great guy and dedicated, but maybe the handwriting was on the wall last year when he was tagged for MLB's only for this year. Same with Brumbaugh. He got tagged with DT's only when Daoust was brought in for DE's.
3. So if Anselmo retires, we are down 3 coaches.
4. Daoust will take over the whole DL. Still down 3 coaches.
5. Will bring in a LB coach to take over all LB's. Down 2 coaches.
6. Will bring in a full time ST coach. Down 1 coach.
7. An offensive coach will be brought in to take some piece(s) of what Hackett has in OC/QB/TE. Won't be just TE's so maybe he takes TE/OT and leave Adkins with the interior line or maybe the new coach is QB coach and passing game coordinator. It will be something creative if in fact a new offensive guy comes in. If Hackett stays, I don't see him getting demoted from OC. Guys like him who are considered "hi-pots" don't get/take demotions. He would leave first.

BTW, "fired" is a play on words. Asst. Coaches are usually on a year to year contract. Don't know when the contracts run out but it might be 12/30. I believe they were probably told their contracts weren't being renewed. So they are in fact still on staff.

Interesting thoughts Bees...Any reason you think Anselmo may hang it up? I don't know how much he brings to the table anyway...

Bees. How about a QB/TE guy only freeing up Hackett completely?

maybe, but i dont think that is a typical combo. maybe if they do hire a TE only it will be catalina who would come real cheap.

3. A couple of guys from a directional Michigan school with recruiting ties to the Upper Peninsula and Southern Wisconsin
