Bob Donnan-Imagn Images North Carolina Tar Heels defensive back DeAndre Boykins has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.
Boykins played high school football at Central Cabarrus (Concord, NC), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 335 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Over the past three seasons with North Carolina, Boykins has amassed 78 total tackles, eight PBUs, two sacks and one interception. His best season came in 2023, when he accumulated 67 total tackles, seven PBUs, two sacks and one interception. He’ll be hoping to match those numbers wherever he ends up in 2025.
Perhaps the Tar Heels website is incorrect but it shows Deandre out for the whole 2023 season due to preseason injury. Impressive that he recorded those numbers while not playing. Those stats above are from 2022 according to ESPN and goheels.com.
