I have to kindly disagree with you there. I think the only reason why Dabo won it is because Clemson went 13-0. If Clemson were to have lost a game and still won the league, I think Dino would have won it.

Yeah -- when you're winning enough that you're a thorn in Alabama's side, you're doing something right. Hard to argue with Dabo just about every year at this point.

Then there is this.

Connelly's ACC power rankings.

3rd best in the Atlantic. 7 wins. Obviously on the low end of what we expect - but not unreasonable. If I were to quibble with him, it's with FSU making that big of a jump back. Briles is going to make a difference there and the have the talent everywhere but the OL - but I think they are a year away from getting back to the 2nd slot behind Clemson.

Look at it again, 4th behind NCSt.

BC's OL isn't even rated. That is crazy. They have a lot of talent back there and will always be good at that position.

Agree and that's a potentially tough matchup for us if it's a good BC OL with a healthy AJ Dillon. Feel like the next step for us is getting to the point that people are worried about our skill guys, not just optimistic about them. I hope Devito is as good as many here believe he will be (I'm not 100% sold on this yet, but I see why folks are projecting big things) and I like the depth and talent we have at RB and WR, but I literally got nervous just seeing the names Etienne, Lawrence, Higgins and Ross on that all-conference team. Those dudes are pure studs. Think we might get there even by this season with some of the guys we have but man, Clemson is loaded.

It’s not unheard of to take a small step or two back after a breakout season. I think a range of 7-10 wins is a plausible range. Oline still has questions, interior dline is not the deepest yet, maybe we don’t get all the turnover magic we did the first 6 games last year. But...
Maybe our rbs play better(great talent there), maybe our dbacks and d-ends continue to play superb, maybe Tommy shows strong early and avoids injury and maybe that 9/10 wins happens. It will certainly be fun to watch.

Whatever has us as close to wire to wire Top 25 is what we need.

I think 8-4 does that for us.

It’ll depend on HOW we get to 8-4.

An L in either of the first 2 games, and we're out of the rankings.

Assuming 2-0 start, even a “bad” L to Clemson won’t drop us much, since they’re a MurderDeathKill football machine these days.
(A W vs Clemson and we’re Top 10  )

Need to hold serve with convincing W’s those next 2 games.

Then after that, it’s a matter of not losing 2 games in a row, and/or more than 3 total.

Yeah, good call, especially on the first 2 games.

Ahh - misread. Even so, given their recruiting and relative success last year, close game vs us - it’s not outrageous to suggest they might be better.

I’m all for the orange glasses (as you know) - but it’s not some outrageous crime against humanity.

I expect we’ll be in the 2-4 in the conference, make another bowl, and exceed his mark like we did last year.

NCST lost even more than we did on paper.

I think they probably have more depth than us overall and can fill those positions but it’s the key spots of qb and skill players that will make the difference as this will be a 40-30 type game again.

I agree. They are one of the teams on our schedule I’m not going to look past. They recruit well, and no personality Doreen can coach.

very nice to see. i also believe that florida state may be a sleeper.

The ONLY game we can look past is Holly Cross . I’m confident Dino will have them
Locked in and focused every week . Dino has
The smarts on how to keep players grounded
I’ve seen it plenty already .idk if Cordy has any hurdles to clear to play but he is participating in lots of activities I’m thinking he is gonna play . Btw your Qb is doing 3-5 training sessions a day he is laser focused

Phil Steele has Cuse in a tight group behind Clemson with Miami, Virginia Tech and FSU. He has us 3rd in the Atlantic but Miami, Virginia Tech, FSU and Cuse are all close in his Power Ratings. Miami at 22 and Cuse at 41. The other two are FSU 33 and VTech 35.

Interesting note Phil Steele does several projections for teams using various factors. Two of his projections had Cuse finishing 11-1. That fact makes us a potential surprise team in 2019. He is hedging his bet putting Cuse 3rd in the Atlantic by virtue of our recruiting rankings from what I can tell and history of breakout teams thriving on Turnovers the season before.
