Potential impact of new seating this year:

Notre Dame will be smaller for sure.

Clemson maybe smaller. They have had 2 sell outs but have also had 4 games below our current capacity.

Louisville extremely doubtful. They haven't had one bigger in the past.

Cal no way.

SMU no way.

Whomever else we play, no.

Really we have only had 7 games A.G. that are higher than our current max. That is exactly one game every two years on average.

Edit
I shouldn't say no way as we did get a huge crowd for NC State a few years ago. It was a perfect storm that I suppose could happen again for a team like SMU.

Technically neither. It is the announced crowd. I do think one year we had turnstile count. Most years we count people in the building which includes workers.

We include every person that is in the building.

The seating capacity is somewhere around 42,000.

In order for us to have an announced crowd of 44k+ after the new seats were put in is some crazy number games.

I thought the announced crowd was “tickets distributed”, which doesn’t mean paid or butts in seats + workers. It can’t be an actual count of people in the building, that never passes the eye test for sparsely attended games.

Here is the ACC...

ACC (38,395 - 70 games)
Miami 45,164 (3 games) - still who we care about most
Clemson 42,677 (6 games) - they were hurt by 2021 and might be this year by reduced capacity
VA Tech 42,391 (4 games)
Duke 41,891 (2 games)
NC State 41,526 (4 games)
GA Tech 39,550 (1 game)
FSU 39,733 (5 games) - small time program
Stanford 39,290 (1 game)
BC 38,035 (10 games)
Louisville 37,542 (9 games)
UVA 37,308 (2 games)
UNC 37,279 (3 games)
Pitt 36,913 (13 games) - they are our most played team by far and we moved a game to Yankee Stadium which doesn't count. They have 2 of our 3 worst attended games.
Wake 35,983 (7 games) - lowest ACC. They have 3 games between 38,539 and 38,554 (15 person difference).
Cal (0 games)
SMU (0 games)

Our ACC avg is actually below the SEC, B12, AAC, Indy, MWC avgs. We are dragged down by BC, Louisville, Pitt, Wake (39 combined games).

Most played games
13x - Pitt
10x - BC
9x - Louisville (they will move into a tie for 2nd this year 🤮)
8x - Rutgers, UConn
7x - Wake
6x - Clemson, WV (Clemson will move up a line this year)
5x - Cincy, FSU, USF
4x - Colgate, NC State, VA Tech (no one will join this group this year)

Ranks of teams with the above minimum 4 games played:

1. Clemson 42,677
2. VA Tech 42,391
3. West Virginia 41,954
4. NC State 41,526
5. FSU 39,733
6. USF 38,440
7. BC 38,035
8. Louisville 37,542
9. Rutgers 37,375
10. Pitt 36,913
11. Wake 35,983
12. UConn 35,941
13. Cincy 35,470
14. Colgate 34,810

Bringing attention to this.

9. 48,170
10. 45,745

That is a pretty big gap. No games at 46k or 47k? I guess that once we have a big crowd momentum took it to the finish line for a sell out?

We do have a similar gap between our new seating non sell outs and sellouts.

2. 43,455
3. 40,772
...
11. 37,184

So the difference (3,588) between our 3rd best and 3rd worst in the new seating is pretty close to the difference between our 2nd and 3rd best (2,683).

Miami 2024 is a little surprising. Thought we had closer to 42-43k that game. Certainly sounded like it.

They couldn't trim 7 people on Duke 2025 and announce 44,444? Would have been a little suspicious though.
