Awfully quiet

I’m thinking now not until Jan 16 when the portal closes. Someone on the board suggested that announcing new transfers could make current players at the same position want to transfer. Might not be as big a deal at some positions (eg tight end) as others.

Complete speculation. I am fairly confident HCFB is entirely honest with his current players about this process but that doesn’t mean what I shared above isn’t also true.

Maybe it’s still early, but I figured we’d have 4-5 transfers by now, and so it leaves me a bit concerned. In addition, the. players we’re involved with so far don’t jump off the page. Hopefully we see more movement soon.
Who says we don’t? My guess is we have more than one but are purposely keeping it quiet

I am interested on how the information is leaked - the Gamecock TE is a nice get (their fans I know wanted him back) and that got released. Are we expecting bigger names than an SEC kid his home school wanted back?

I actually think this is playing into a lot of schools strategies right now.

I think it's French

A couple things. I’ve heard that we are purposely going stealth this year.

Last year I recall getting a few surprises as well, and many of the players who visited “publicly” didn’t end up here. Not sure if that was coincidence or by design.

I’m not worried.

I hope insiders would have spilled something to get us excited by now. Not specifics obviously, but SOMETHING. Not getting good vibes based on that alone.

Edit: Jake's comment helps a little, but it's not the same as, say, AZOrange posting his smiley face trademark when he knew something was in the bag.

A few observations:

1. This is Fran's most thought out and vetted freshmen recruiting class to date. We will have more players ready to make big impacts right away than we have seen in a freshmen class in a long time.
2. Those who are not leaving aren't for a reason. Again, I believe once the season took a turn for a worse their was a ton of evaluation and vetting of the current Syracuse roster on the culture and systems fits moving forward with Nixon offense and Kehres defense in mind.
3. The same thought out and vetted approach is going to be applied to the transfer portal. Being more methodical is a lesson to be learned and I think is being applied in many ways now.

The Gamecocks want him as a blocking TE while he wants to be a receiving TE.

Fran will let him catch as well as block (part of the position).

Fans always think the coaches are playing 4D Chess.

I would have to think that the coaches would want the current players to help recruit portal guys. As long as the money is kept quiet, who cares who joins the team? The current team needs to be convinced that the best way to make $$$ is to perform well and win. If Collins had gone 4-4, the program would have made more money, this team would have been in a bowl, better stats would have been put up, better receivers would want to stay/come here, etc. In other words, it did not help Angeli to have the team implode.

If Gill had put up another 20 receptions and 250 yards, he might have made more money for himself and for Cook, as it would have opened up space for him to get more receptions/yards. And then is not getting into the reality that depth allows guys to rest and be 100%, whether fatigue or injuries. For all the talk of what we would have been post-Clemson with Angeli... the team did not look great against Colgate and we had to put Angeli back in, etc. It would have been nice if our backups could have given the first team additional rest.

I have a bigger post coming but saw this as I was typing, can everyone please relax lol.

The most productive high school quarterback in Louisiana prep history, slated to play cornerback for LSU, ends up shifting to RB in 2024 when John Emery has a season-ending injury.
I don't know what to expect but he's a hell of an athlete.

Yeah I get why he is here - I was asking about how the information gets released.

We need more players! More More More! So far we have two athletes but not much else. Need to close on a QBa and some lineman. Maybe a linebacker
