wondering what else we can learn. thought people could start googling

i'm a rank amateur in the weight room, I do lift but I keep it incredibly simple because I'm not trying to do anything besides live a long time. squats, deadlifts, presses, pullups. so i'm not one of those guys who has a strong opinion on hicks. i am skeptical of all the hammer strength machines i see in the weightroom pictures though

If I had to put money on it, I'd say that Edinger will be following Babers here. Either as a replacement for Hicks or as his football assistant.

Babers has his players workout differently than any program in college ball. I can't imagine him keeping Hicks. Its like keeping a cook at an italian restaurant that you bought and turned into a chinese food place.

And if we get some players leaving, I would guess that it's the conditioning demands that might be the cause for a few.

Sounds like this guy gets it...I would be shocked if Babers doesn't bring him along with him. Not a knock on Hicks because i don't know his training philosophy but if you are babers why would you take a chance on an unknown when you can just bring your guy...a guy you know gets it and knows what you are trying to accomplish.

Yes, exactly. I can't see him (Babers) training a trainer (Hicksy) to train his football team. However, I can see Hicks being retained in some meaningful capacity by Athletics to as thank you for his ongoing service and to keep the peace with former players (which I fully appreciate and hope for).

Somebody said soda would be off the menu. I see stuff like that and just shake my head. I'm not the healthiest but anyone still drinking soda is willingly drinking pure poison. I'm definitely not hard core about diet but at least pick your poison. Soda does nothing at all for anyone. Gotta get these kids off it.

Hicks uses the Hammer Strength machines for some supplemental stuff. Usually the high volume stuff, etc. They are so invaluable for ayers with shoulder injuries, spurs, etc.

You'll see them in pretty much every collegiate weight room.

I appreciate your sentiment for Hicks but I really hope that no decision is ever made to "keep the peace with former players."

I hear ya. The "former players" part of my comment referred simply to a secondary benefit of giving him a new position elsewhere in the department. Not as a reason to do it.

Sorry, but I don't agree. There's nothing that a machine can do that you can't do with a free weight, even with shoulder injuries. I've had several impingements, and even through my PT, I've always and only used free weights and bands. Have never needed to use machines. Machines are great for the machine manufacturers, and that's about it.

The more I read about this, the more I have no doubt that Hicks has started a "media campaign" because he knows his time is short.

Agreed. You're basically brining your insides with artificial sweeteners even in the Zeros/Diets (one could argue they are actually worse than sugar). Soda can take rust off a car so why put it in you!
