babers strength and conditioning thread

That's as close as "He gone" as you're going to get.
Let's be honest: we will not be able to *expedite* the transition to "fastest show on turf" with anything that resembles our current training practices. If we can save a lot of time, energy and resources by bringing in someone else for S&C so be it.

Change is typically perceived as painful. It's the end result that matters most.

Sorry, but I don't agree. There's nothing that a machine can do that you can't do with a free weight, even with shoulder injuries. I've had several impingements, and even through my PT, I've always and only used free weights and bands. Have never needed to use machines. Machines are great for the machine manufacturers, and that's about it.

We can agree to disagree no problem. I have had several spurs removed - the Hammer strength allowed me to go heavier with out the stress on my shoulder or elbow.

Trust me, I too think dumbells and barbells are far superior, but there is definitely a place for the Hammer machines. Every single programs uses them for a reason.

Yeah, understandable that we will. Machines have been around for a long time, so many people believe they must have their place. Issue I have is why focus on a fixed movement that doesn't involve all of the muscles that a free movement would use. When you are healthy, you don't move in a fixed position, your body is constantly using assisting muscles along with the direct muscles. Free barbell exercises use more muscles, both main and assisting, and thus create greater strength more than anything else.

Hicks is is in the same predicament as he was in 2000 at North Carolina State when Gus Amato was hired. On his way out...

Him and Mark Rippetoe. You will see a correct squat then. However, get ready for the nutrition part to go out the window. :D
But can dairy supply meet demand in the greater Syracuse area?

The alumni group is going to have to come to grips with it. If they don't, then quite frankly - them.

Love Syracuse football and love every single guy that has put their blood, sweat and tears out for my alma mater, but change was needed. And not just superficial change.

Not saying I know anything about what Hicks' philosophy is/was, what works and what doesn't - but from a strictly business standpoint, you don't keep people around just to make alums happy. And if you want a program that is going to win, you need to make sure everyone in place is on board with all philosophies that are about to be implemented.

Whether or not Hicks would or would not have bought in are irrelevant - if the head coach knows he has a guy he can trust in that role, he needs to bring him in. Bottom line.

Sorry for the rant but this gets way too much play on this board, and I think it's a pretty clear cut thing. A strength and conditioning coach may not be as important as an offensive or defensive coordinator, but it's close. I don't think I'm exaggerating, and I don't think anyone in their right mind would advocate for a new head coach to keep a coordinator just because a lot of people felt he should.

If Hicks moves out...I expect a good chance he is reassigned within the University.

Since his title is (Sorry, MadNY3, no "Executive Senior" as lead in) Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Performance, you could be right.

Too bad for all those years Freeney trained up at Manley, he always seemed to forget his checkbook.

Is Hicks the S&C guy for all our sports teams? If so, it may take more than the FB coach to get him replaced. (Or maybe not.)

So is he gone or has the university moved him to another role in the athletic department?

Tweet isn't really clear.
