Gotta tell you from the start, some mixed feelings here as we all loved the Village Pourhouse. None of us at the bar knew exactly how (or why) this new SU bar deal materialized. But as I told the guys tonight, we all also loved "The Hill" before we were told we had to switch to Pourhouse. And now that I think about it as I type this, we all loved the "Town Tavern", before we had to move to The Hill (I am sure a lot of the boys will read this later and it will bring back memories). And if memory serves me right, oddly, most of these bar durations lasted around the same 3 years.
Okay, enough of the sappy stuff. The new place is called Overlook, and is located on 44th, between 2nd and 3rd. Tremendous crowd tonight, but to be perfectly honest, I think a lot had to do with it being a Friday night, and a lot of the early folks were there for Happy Hour. (this bar has a tremendous regular happy hour, every night of the week, 2 for 1 beer/drinks from 4-6pm).
The TV's seemed to be all nice HD quality and big enough to see what's going on. We were close to the center of the bar, and they had 2 TV's side by side, so they put Patrick Ewing's coaching debut (against the Knicks ironically) on right next to the 'Cuse game. Our own board group was small tonight (only 4 people), but will be much bigger tomorrow as a few of the guys wanted to save up for the big Maryland game.
As for the game itself, it was Cooney, Cooney and some more Cooney. As for you that have been haters over the last year, go ... (oh never mind). But I realize most of you that saw the Georgetown game in the BET last year know that Trevor was very ripe for a HUGE year this year. And this is just the start! The kid is only a Sophomore!
Hopefully I'll see some of you newer folks this year during the season! (sidenote regarding the game tomorrow, we have been going to the other (unofficial) 'Cuse bar, the East End Bar for the football games, so at this point we are not going to break with tradition).
