Baylor/Oklahoma and Oregon/Stanford

When I say fraud I mean that they are completely human and not unstoppable like the media portrays them to be. I should clarify it a little. If your a top 10 team you aren't a fraud, but when I hear your unstoppable year in and year out and then I see a team with an athletic defense be able to make you look human 1 time out 12 or 13 times its means your dominant but unstoppable. Oregon is not a fraud I was wrong, but the damn media hype is what drives me to say that.
i never predicted an oregon win because i know how good stanford is. my stance is that the northeast is going to generally be pro style running and we can set ourselves apart using a dome passing attack. i also think that it's easier to get pretty good spreading out than it is to be stanford/TCU. i also understand why factories don't want to go way out on a limb with some crazy offense - they can sacrifice some offense to prepare their defense better because they have enough talent to score in any system.

stanford has set themselves apart by being totally different. they used to try to be another west coast passing school but they aren't going to compete that way, you just end up with trent edwards throwing a million picks

stanford is pretty unique, i give them credit

I haven't brought you up at all BTW. I would love if we were Oregon I would love to get 10 wins nevermind go to BCS bowls the last 4 years.

Reminds me of the B1G vs the SEC. All the screaming about how good they are and they never make it over the hump to win a BCS championship. Oregon has the be the best program in the past 10 years without a BCS championship and it's not close. If I was an Oregon fan, I'd be wondering what's wrong. 10-1, 12-1, or whatever stops being good enough at some point...

Not Oregon fans. They are the most relentlessly positive bunch I've ever seen.

oh relax, he's having fun, i got a grin out of it

Yep was all in jest.

My view which may be different is that there are strengths & weaknesses to any offense & defense. Talent is what makes them work well in any system along with good coaching. I'm really not in disagreement with Millhouse about the spread offense - it's just going to be different than what we have seen lately assuming GM gets the recruits he needs to run the spread effectively.

Last night told me the following. Baylor is basically Oregon. Oklahoma isn't a great team this year. Their D has improved greatly, but their QB play is atrocious and Baylor's D showed that they miss Landry Jones. OU's D played well against Baylor, but their offense killed them and eventually Baylor scored points. However, I don't think Baylor would beat any of the top 5 teams except Oregon. Congrats to Baylor for the rise as a program, but they beat nobody in the non-conference and beating Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech is not enough for me to see them play for a NC unless they are one of two unbeaten teams.

Oregon are frauds. De'Anthony Thomas and his we shouldn't score less than 40 points crap is hilarious now. Mr. ALL CAPS Black Mamba is lucky his team recovered the 2nd onside kick or they wouldn't have had 40 plays mind less 40 points. Oregon is a team that bullies less talented teams with its superior talent then when they play a team with equal talent poops in its pants. The biggest bully teams in the country these past 10 years are Oregon, Wisconsin, Texas Tech. These teams all have had record offenses and win their fair share of big games and they score video game number points and , but never win it all because teams with equal talent will always beat and they aren't complete. Enjoy the Orange Bowl this year if we get Clemson vs. Oregon because that will be a video game.

Seems like no team can do right unless they are named Alabama. Sheesh.

baylor plays a top 10 team with a top 15 defense and their qb has his shakiest game of the year and they still put up 459 yards

you describing their worst 450 yard games as struggling makes the argument for me

baylor's defense was suprisingly good but i wouldn't say the offense struggled

we have threads today talking about how great stanford's offense was and how baylor struggled on offense. shrug

I do think that Baylor's O struggled. If you re-watch the first half, you will notice that Bryce Petty had a very inaccurate first half which is very uncharacteristic of him. He had a lot of balls that just weren't on the mark.

Stanford had to have everything go perfectly to win at home by six. Good for them. Oregon's offense still outgained them per play but lost turnover battle.

There's something to be said for being totally different than the teams around you. Works well for Stanford. They're the new TCU anomaly

I think spreading it out would make us more different from northeastern schools than emulating Stanford.

I'd love for SU to be the college version of the greatest show on turf
