Reading some of these responses is actually humorous. Everyone is blamed without even mentioning the root cause. I am sure that there is a large number of graduates on here from the Whitman School that are zealots of capitalism, the root cause previously mentioned. I am also sure that these zealots will respond with their predicable hate to this post. But, don't blame the kid for everything he has been taught by the society he grew up in.

Everything that we were taught about capitalism is pure excrement. Capitalism was best described by two mafiosa, Tony Soprano and in "The Godfather." Tony described capitalism as doing everything possible to "maximize profits." Of course, this is at the cost to others who will suffer from the greed of the capitalist. If some one uses moral conduct in their decision making process and is sympathetic to the consequences of others, this is called socialism. This is the great moral debate facing our country and our planet. Why would anyone expect sports to be exempt? Indeed, sports are a crucible for the process.

The other quote comes from "The Godfather" and is simply put as , "It's just business." Which is another way of explaining capitalism.

It's probably unrelated, but I can't shake the image of Boeheim screaming at Frank Howard at the end of the Arizona State game for making the game-clinching free throw. I can't help but wonder if players have had enough of his act. Certainly Moyer had. Also, I'm sure that agents are telling players that spending a year playing zone defense is not going to help their NBA credentials.

A friend of mine actually believes g-league coaching is better for nba purposes than a year at Syracuse. I'm not a "JB can do no wrong guy," but that statement seems ludicrous to me. Coaches in the G-league are coaches in the G-league for a reason. Am I way off-base or has my friend lost it?

I'm sure there are good coaches and bad coaches, like any group. I'm with you on the "Boeheim's great but he's not perfect" sentiment. But the odds that this kid latches on with someone who's better than Boeheim seem...unlikely.

I mean, this isn't the only way to judge a coach's ability. But what're the odds that any of those guys will be in the Hall of Fame someday? How many will even be considered to manage a big-time program in college or the NBA?

This is a disappointment but it shows that he wasn't really excited about the college environment. If that is how he felt then I can't imagine that we would have seen anything other than him auditioning for the NBA all year so maybe its better this way.

I think it just portrays the kid as not intelligent and also having been convinced by $$ promises. It also portrays Bazley as extremely selfish

It's selfish to insist kids play for free for a year while coaches make $3m+ a year, the "not for profit" NCAA makes $1b+ a year and when the NCAA president flies in a private jet. The kids also have their character trampled because they want to make money.

How are we writing off next season already. Let’s wait until Oshae makes a decision before we freak out. I think we will be pretty good next season. I expect a top 25 season. Frank and Brissett are very capable of all ACC type seasons. Hughes and Carey’s versatility will help solve depth issues.

He ain't getting any endorsements. Not a high enough profile player. Agent cash advance, yes, but he ain't getting a shoe deal and won't be signing any other endorsements any time soon when he'll be playing in a league with literally zero exposure.

Unless one of the shoe companies needed someone to set an example and they got him to bite. He may not be worth it in marketing dollars, but given the stuff that's happened this year, he may be worth it in terms of future precedent.

makes the most sense. This way the agent can actually pay him whatever he wants now, then sign him guaranteeing he's kept on as an agent when he hits the NBA. The player is locked in. All legal. Only risk for the agent is if the player turns out to be a bust.

Amazing that something that really has nothing to do with me makes me sick to my stomach. This is a HUGE loss, let's not fool ourselves. I went from having Final Four hopes to struggles to get in the tourney again. We stand to lose our best player to the draft and we gain a freshman guard with potential, a transfer and a good shooter in Boeheim. Many question marks and Bazley was not one of them. Uggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I still think we'll be good. But I had national title-like hopes. This news feels like that is ruined unless both Battle and Oshae stay.
