BC postgame thoughts

I’m out of country on vaca so couldn’t watch. Checked the score a few times and just looked like the usual rock fight. Then I threw it on YouTube for OT to see us embarrassed.

Coaches and players were all asleep. Not in the way this happen sometimes, but everyone seemed way out of it. No pace and zero discipline or decisiveness. Basically how you lose 2 games in OT and another game by 1 point. Thats the difference right there between a tourney or not.

Just shows that the coach can’t coach and the leaders on the team aren’t leading really.

crazy upsets today like 5 top 25 teams upset. UConn only by 2 over GTown, NCst also embarrassed at home by GTech, and TBD UNC down 17! At halftime to Cal.

I’ll save more thoughts on the next coach for a later time but we really need to be careful finding the next one. We need a disciplined AHole to coach up in CNY not some flavor of the month dude that just talks a big game.

If the next coach isn’t Josh Schertz or Tony Skinn we have made a massive mistake.

I will be venting on a lot of platforms so apologies in advance but the general symptoms with this team stems from a lack of cohesive plan offensively. There’s aren’t disciplined enough to pass back out if intial action is stopped. This team has gotten more careless with the ball as the time goes on. Defensive energy get sapped and transition messier. George and Freeman then take on too much on their back. No one has improved. I had hope in Post Freeman return world, now it’s gone.
they do the same thing every game - any decent opponent will know:

line change subs halfway through first half
iso offense last 5 - 10 minutes of game
I’m very leery of Kiyan getting any more run than he already does. He’s not very efficient and is a ball hog.
according to box score, kiyan had zero turnovers in the game - not sure thats accurate though

meanwhile nait george had 7 turnovers and the worst plus minus on the team

not sure why fennel or zephir couldnt get a crack at pg...george cost the game

meanwhile donnie also had 7 turnovers

george needs to be investigated after that game imo

We’re really out here losing to BC in football AND basketball

Sad Vince Mcmahon GIF by Justin

Nait has 26 turnovers in conference play (5 games). What on Earth is wrong with dude?
its insane - he makes crazy bad decisions all game long...its like no one is coaching him

its like he has panic attacks with the ball many times per game

maybe he is just not fast enough or strong enough so he overcompensates in his mind by playing crazy?

Yep coaching matters.

Been on the fence on the issue for a while, this solidifies it. Not just X’s & O’s nor the 17 turnovers, but no animated presence on the bench toward the end of that game in regulation then overtime to get these players to “raise their Game”, “dig down deep”, or “ rise to the occasion“ or whatever other metaphor one wants to use, this to win a game they should win due to better talent alone. .

These are the type games that expose Bad coaches. And speaking of the X’s and O’s, I mean not fouling up 3 15 seconds left, or at least putting more guys at the three-point line and let them get a two pointer? I mean really, basic stuff

When the announcing crew mentioned George not sliding over to give Kingz an outlet , as George ball watched standing in front of Red, while Red did nothing or said nothing that to me was the perfect moment to highlight of why he isn’t a HC. It’s something you see mentioned at all levels of hoops and good coaches seeing it in the moment as it’s right there.

donnie also had 7 turnovers vs BC!

hes been doing it all ACC as well...just all that scoring masked it somewhat (even though i noticed it too)

overall

reds offense is EXTREMELY easy to defend - opponents know exactly what these guys are trying to do every time down the floor

last 10 minutes of games SU goes ISO mode and just takes turns going 1 on 1 - a holdover of JB strategy

but if the driver is bottled up they have no outlet and opponents know what is going and cover the passing lanes...it leads to a lot of bad shots and a lot of turnovers - youre seeing it more in ACC play bc these guys already have red very well scouted

This is not a bad roster of players. We have good talent. We have the horses to compete and win any game. This season is not indicative of them at all.

This is ALL coaching.

Going to waste so much talent this season. Such a shame!
Absolutely they had no game plan today. BC didn’t even play that well.

Hes a bad leader...His body language makes me depressed just watching him...hes gotta go too
he was smiling after that double turnover debacle at the end of the game stepping on the line - to kyle -who was NOT smiling

i really wonder what is going on in Georges head

reds tried benching him lately but it obviously hasnt been working

NIL era leads to this kinda thing imo

player knows he is irreplacable and can just leave next year if it gets bad

Random question: I missed the first half and the beginning of the second. What happened to Sadiq White? (Not that it would have mattered.)

We took our 11 year old nephew to the game. We had a whole crew there. He had a great time and got to get close to the court while the players were warming up early on. Then we lost and he’s not happy. Poor kid. I haven’t been to a Cuse game in a few years, so this loss was really disappointing. I guess I’m bad luck! I will say: BC is a good defensive team, but there’s no way we should have lost that game. We were in control, but every time we started to get separation, we made poor decisions, bad passes and forced up bad shots. JJ stopped attacking, Donnie forced shots. The turnovers and offensive stagnation killed us, but we still shouldn’t have lost that game. The meltdown at the end was unacceptable.

Could have made up for it by making the front end of that godforsaken 1 and 1.

This is the most pissed off I’ve been after a loss in a long time.

For me it’s the inevitable coming to roost. We saw flashes in year 1 followed by awful losses and performances. The same problems with the most talent he’s had so far have been there whether we had Donnie or not. Now we don’t have to kick the can anymore. Find a real coach that can get it done and put things back as they belong.
