BC Rollcall

Im stoked we finally stopped scheduling this on Thanksgiving weekends so I don't feel guilty about going.
We were gonna have this game week 1 in 2020 if that whole virus thing didn't happen. Would have been amazing.

That said last couple days have basically been late August for weather.

Wildhack, if you're reading this, pull some strings for 2026

Where are the Betas meeting up. I will have wife, son, daughter in law and two year old granddaughter in tow.
Check the alumni Facebook page. Looks like the Comm Ave parking garage

Going w/ my son. I've been to most of the SU FB games at BC since 1982 - Mac's second year and Flutie's second year. Flutie lead them to a come from behind win with a TD in the last 2 minutes. Before Flutie was famous - and he also led BC to a win over Rutgers on the final play during that season. Shades of things to come...

There's been some ugly brawls in the series. One was instigated by Eric Dungey - couldn't believe he wasn't ejected. In 1979 we played them in Ithaca (Schoellkopf Field) while the Dome was being built. BC had a poor season but upset SU in that game - also had some altercations.

We have a 4 game win streak going in Alumni Stadium.

In with a large group of probably 20-30.
So, that 20-30 ended up being closer to 75.

Think we parked somewhere in Canada as we had to show our passports to get to the stadium anda the signs were all in French.

BC law school alums told us they paid $250 for a one-day parking pass close the stadium. We paid $40 which is why I think we had to park out of the country.

BC has an interesting tailgate philosophy. Once game starts, security drives around telling people to stop tailgating because the game has started. Do a lot of BC fans forget to go to the games? They do the same after the game telling people to wrap it up and go home. Do a lot of BC fans forget to go home? Strange.

Paid for one of those tailgate tables in the middle of the grassy area in front of the stadium.

Beautiful day. Lots of Orange.

Anyone who complains about anything related to the Dome should be sentenced to spend a season at Alumni stadium. A glorified high school stadium.

We sat on visitors side. The BC fans in our section were...interesting.

Many were clearly more interested in auditioning for "So you think you can dance" than the game. Many stood around in groups with their backs to the field. Many were clearly highly intoxicated.

If both teams had left the field, I'm not sure many of them would have noticed as long as they continued to sell beer and play music at ear-splitting decible levels.

Our refusal to stack the box allowed BC to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 6,000 yards rushing (can someone confirm? - maybe closer to 7,000?).

Buckle up for football in a baseball stadium in December.

Spoke to someone at tailgate who is involved in NIL...says we need to 5MM a year to be competitive (ie top 30) in hoops and 10-15MM a year for football...

Suspect we are not there yet...No idea how far off we are...

We'll see if Bud Fox's Dad, er..if Fran Brown has a QB, on the board of another public company, er...playing for another P4 school...

Back in my day of attending BC games every other year, 1992-2000 range (and being fortunate to always have a tailgate to attend at what is now the Flynn Recreation Complex grass field adjacent on the north), BC fans had a rabid reputation for not ending their tailgates when the game started. They would often show up in the 2nd quarter. I recall that it used to irk the team, coaches, and administration, so they probably put an end to it.

The bathroom situation is horrible. At halftime, I waited for my wife thinking I don't want her to get separated and the men's line would be quick. She had no line and was in and out quickly. The men's room had a mile long line. I walked around to the next bathroom and it was a long line but much shorter. Apparently the upper deck has no bathroom so there is overcrowding. Then after the game my wife tried to use the bathroom and it was locked!!!

There were 4 kids near me who were BC fans and were standing the whole game in a circle and never faced the field. I might have said something but everyone in front of them was standing. Those people were mostly SU fans. Not sure why the SU fans at midfield stood the whole game. It was a little annoying. The BC fans were not happy. An old guy who was a BC fan said he never has this problem. I felt bad for him because his family left as they could not see anything. He stayed a little longer but left early 2nd Q. SU fans have a bad rep and things like this do not help. I watched the BC sideline and those people never stood.

They had a lot of promos but I thought it was better executed than ours. Promo guy was certainly more pleasant. Playing music between plays is Mickey Mouse.

Seats were a tight squeeze, so glad we have seats now.

That stadium was a total shyte hole. Makes Rentschler Field look like a palace.

Someone mentioned the bathroom lines. Complete joke on the lower level, especially with the BC children cutting them and entering through the exit.

Ditched the lower level seating for upstairs at halftime. Much better in every way. Including virtually no bathroom lines. Ton of SU fans on the visitor side.

I've been going to the games here for about a decade. I think when I was younger, I didn't mind all the shortcomings of the game day experience. I think I was able to tolerate it because the crowds were thinner and I lived in Watertown (MA) and didn't need to worry about parking.

I always sit up in the second level at alumni stadium because the lower level experience is atrocious.

After this past weekend's experience, really questioning whether I want to go to games here moving forward. It feels as if BC is trying to make the game day experience as crappy as possible. The parking situation is awful and worsened last year when they lost parking at the guest Street garage.

My wife said we'll see in two years about how I feel about going to BC. (She's not wrong haha)

I found myself comparing it to Rentschler Field because they're both about the same distance from me and in my opinion, the game day experience isn't even close.

Agree. The Rent is incredibly pleasant compared to BC. Tons of parking. Easy to get in and out of because it’s a blowout. Just the UConn fans are worse but I’d rather enjoy a wider concourse and more food options than suffer at that dump at BC.
