Bell needs to step it up

Not a great start to the season for him. We need more out of him if we have any chance at beating a good team.
It's a little bit late to ask anything out of someone who hasn't gotten better at the things he is bad at. Sure he will wins us a few games where he gets red hot from 3, but most of the other games his lack of defense, passing the ball, and rebounding will hurt the team.

He’s improved and expanded his game in all phases. He’s just not shooting it well right now from 3 which is the least of my worries.

Bell isn't a good all-around basketball player and hasn't really been a good all-around basketball player in his time here at Syracuse. He is a shooter who at some point in the season will find his shot but being an excellent 3 point shooter is way different than being an excellent basketball player. Expecting him to be anything more than that is a mistake.

Chris biggest problem exist between his ears. If he misses a shot or feels like he got fouled he hangs his head and doesn’t get back. Bell has the size and athleticism to be a good defender and rebounder but doesn’t have the mindset needed. Must be incredibly frustrating to coach him.

Stevie Thompson was a well rounded player who could pass, play defense, rebound well, not a great shooter, but could score. Bell isn't any of those things.

I only saw the first half but he had two plays where he drove and found Freeman for a dunk, and had a nice curl cut for an and 1.

Those aren't plays he made last season. He's expanding his skills, it's just not consistent and he's starting the season really cold from deep.

You’re right on. He’s a head case at times. Red sat him down for a long time today. Late in the game I would have subbed for him on defense like he did with Eddie.

He almost cost us the game. Was a huge negative today.

He adds some weight and strength and goes to OK on D and boards yet overall sucks and stopped scoring.

Yeah idk why people thought that he would magically be interested in playing defense or doing anything that requires hard work

Bell has so much natural talent but it's obvious he's a head case. He's constantly being encouraged, comforted by his teammates. Each missed shot results in a soap opera level pout. Bottom line, the kids soft. He's got a good shot but can't create for himself, is a lousy defender and needs constant coddling. I'd sit his arse until he decides he wants it.

That's actually a pretty good description of Bell's game and personality from my view also.

He's weak. Doesn't play D and is a head case. If he can't hit threes what does he bring to the team? Kids one dimensional.

He’s improved in every phase. Rebounding, defense, puts the ball on the floor, drives to the basket, etc. things he rarely did. Even has had a couple real nice assists each game. He’s not just a stand still shooter.

He sat for 4 mins in the 1st half today.

LOL
I don't find it funny when one of our supposed leaders plays like he did today. Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Couldn't defend. He played like crap. I dont find that funny.
