Benny and Q coming up on radio at 11am.

I think you confuse getting by people, and running at people out of control. Why did he have to force so many shots up.

It was an evolution to his game to look for the pass after beating his mean and dealing with help rotating over not a failure to beat his man. He chose shot over pass too often over the first half of the year.

Let’s see. Do you believe that he didn’t get by many guys as per your original post, or that Mintz was running at people “out of control and forcing up shots” all season? Neither take is accurate. He was clearly much better as the year went along, especially in ACC conference games. He got by his man consistently enough to average 16+ a game as a true freshman.

Judah’s freshman point production was better than Flynn, better than Ennis, and better than…Pearl’s.

Syracuse can survive without Mintz. He was the point guard for a 17-15 team that wasn’t good enough to be the best 100 teams in college basketball. I would not compare him to other Syracuse great point guards until he can light it up in the regular season, or NCAA tournament….or both. Great point guards deliver wins. Good guards put up numbers for middling/losing teams. See Joe Girard, and Deshaun Williams. Sometimes losing two high scoring players can make a team better. In 2001-2022, Syracuse lost Deshaun Williams and 20 ppg Preston Shumpert. They won a title the next year.

Yes, losing those two was certainly the key to the success that followed. SMH.

SU would need a strong replacement for Judah. It's that simple. That replacement would either be in the mold of a scoring combo( where you shift more PG responsibilities to Westry) or point like a Bradley. While you could have a breakout year for Copeland- you don't bank on that.

You also could have a breakout year for Bell yet again- not something you can bank on plus he's a forward and will be so until his game says otherwise.

Let’s be honest, this year‘s team was the worst team in Syracuse history.(last 50 years) if this past year‘s team played the same schedule that the year before was played, they would have a losing record by more than one game. I don’t know why anybody wants any of these guys back after the dumpster fire that we saw this year. There are other years where Syracuse lost what people thought were great players, and they were awesome the next year. The year they after they lost devendorf Harris and Flynn. They were much better. Basketball is about team chemistry. If Judah is gone, next man up.
