Benny suspended. Maliq still hurt.

Think that first sentence is true if you switch it to say "Taylor and Bell" instead of just Taylor. We saw Bell make some highly contested threes from deep last season and he got better as the season went on. Think he can release it quicker than Taylor. Took almost twice as many attempts from deep as Taylor last season and the percentage was at least passable. Obviously if this cold streak continues we have to start looking elsewhere, but think people are writing him off based on an extremely small sample size this season.
I'm counting the exhibition games in my assessment. Taylor has been consistent each game. The highlighted piece is why I said Bell's shot is more aesthetically pleasing and why I think some fans think he's a better shooter than the numbers have shown.

Just think that is still a very small sample size. His numbers in the exhibition games and the first game are much lower than his numbers as a whole his freshman season. He has been on a cold streak. Shooters go through hot and cold streaks and it is too early to say what our threats from range can and can't do.

Its 1 full season plus one more game. Kid better start to ball or hes going to be sitting.
Yikes, you dont think Cope is ballin ?? Whats he supposed to do ? He will never be a great trey shooter & maybe a few less TOs, but rest of his game has looked pretty darn good so far, plus he is arguably our best defender and unquestionably our best energy guy.

My only complaint with him is there were multiple times in that first game he seemed out of control on drives and it led to turnovers. I just wish he’d settle down a bit, you can play flashy like he does and still remain controlled. Seems to me he’s still finding the balance between the two. Also you have to know when to just take the easy play, he had the ball in a 2 on 1 had an easy pass for an easy bucket but tried to force the scoop for himself and got fouled, just an unnecessary play.

He’s talking about Benny, not Copeland.

That sucks. These guys all need time to learn their roles and build on court chemistry. Won’t hurt us tonight but might in Maui.
Absolutely, it also means that Brown may have to play more. If Benny were available, Brown likely would have been able to rest more and heal.

At this point I have no inside info at all but if this is how it is going to go all year perhaps we just move forward

Back at practice but not playing? Tf
Who the heck knows. It’s his junior year you’d think he would want to make the most of it but he’s also a young kid in college. Seems like a nice kid that draws attention the wrong way sometimes which is a maturity thing in my book

So… is this academic? Breaking curfew? What gives?

Does Red consider a partial suspension and sub him in for inbounds plays under the basket?

Benny has been to SyraCruz tailgates. Some of us have met him. He seems like a good young man.
I completely believe this.

I used to be an academic advisor in the UVa athletic department and was mostly counseling football players but also wrestlers and tennis players.

One thing I can tell you firsthand is that being a college athlete at the D1 (or any!) level is extremely difficult.

Think back to your maturity level and ups and downs at that age and then add on the incredibly demanding practice, travel, and performance demands.

The guys I counseled had literally NO time to themselves. They had to wake up early and went to bed late and inbetween was crammed with classes, trying to study, practices, games AND having to spend 3-4 hours with me every week to help keep them on track. And it was not just academic work I helped them with, it was life.

Let’s try to avoid criticizing the character of our players. I know this is an Internet forum and we have the right to do so, but let’s also understand the incredible demands on them as well.

yeah so him practicing or not is a fairly significant distinction at this point - can we confirm which it is?

He was supposedly at practice the next day. I really hope if that was true he didn’t get into it with Red and made things worse.

I feel like I've read this post word for word before.

More often than not, he's out of control she doesn't play with any pace. There are times where he's out there and it looks like he's at the playground and not in a structured environment. You can have energy and avoid the aforementioned.

This is just excusing bad behavior.
